Brazil out of Germany Sail Grand Prix after high-speed crash in practice

The incident occurred when the France team led by Quentin Delapierre suffered damage and the F50 boat fell off its foils. Just seconds later, Brazil's F50, which was going over 80 km/h, suddenly suffered a high-impact nosedive and came to a complete standstill as it capsized. SailGP said an investigation into the incident is under way but confirmed Brazil will not compete this weekend due to extensive damage. "Meanwhile the SailGP shore team will be working through the night to attempt to get France to the start line when racing begins tomorrow at 3.30 p.m. CEST (1330 GMT)," they said in a statement. SailGP said Delapierre was taken to hospital after practice to be checked over and was cleared of any injury. No Brazilians were hurt in their crash. Brazil are 10th in the standings with 13 points while France are sixth with 38 points. New Zealand's Black Foils top the table with 64 points. REUTERS
