Beaumaris' 'Deli Dydd' has launched - and it's great!

Anglesey is full of little hidden gems in that respect and the latest to officially open on the island over the weekend was 'Deli Dydd'. Based in Beaumaris, it is part of 'The Grove' restaurant which is opening in the coming weeks, in the former Tredici's site. My wife and I were heading over to the other side of the island to spend some time with my family as it was my dad's birthday. And, on the way we noticed that the deli was now up and running as of that very day. Among the hustle and bustle of a busy summertime Beaumaris was this quietly brilliant new business on Castle Street. It was stocked with plenty of treats to enjoy, from pastries to jacket potatoes and 'hotboxes', which I had been eyeing up, but as it was early morning I opted for a sandwich. They offer 'make your own' sandwiches for which you can choose your fillings, as well as a range of different breads including Focaccia. My salami and cheese sandwich. (Image: Newsquest) My wife went for the ham and cheese on bloomer bread, while I went for the slightly more unconventional salami and cheese, again on a bloomer bread. For a quick snack, I have to say that we both thought it was delicious, and cost us £3.90 each. My wife, who is a huge Starbucks fan, also had a hot chocolate (£3.50), which she was left impressed by. There are, of course, plenty of other drinks on offer there including Matcha options, which are proving popular in the UK right now. TOP STORIES TODAY The next day, I was back in Beaumaris with my one-and-a-half-year-old son, as we took a stroll along the pier. And, yep, you guessed it - we returned to Deli Dydd, this time to try out one of their hotboxes which had already proven popular according to staff. In fact, I myself spotted plenty of people dotted around the town enjoying tucking into them. You can choose from a range of main ingredients like beef brisket and chicken schnitzel to be accompanied by two sides for £9.95. The wonderful hotbox I enjoyed at Deli Dydd in Beaumaris. (Image: Newsquest) I went for the chicken, with vegetables, feta cheese and sweet potato fries and it was absolutely brilliant. The flavours blended together really well and there was enough in the bowl to make you feel full afterwards too. Staff at the deli were very friendly, despite being rushed off their feet with orders coming in thick and fast. So, Beaumaris has yet another culinary gem to add to its ever-growing ranks it seems. And with the neighbouring The Grove restaurant opening soon, there is still much more to look forward to in the town.
