Florida accident: Indian-origin truck driver Harjinder Singh's work permit approved by Biden admin, claims DHS

Trump admin says Indian-origin Harjinder Singh was given work permit in 2021 by the Biden administration. The Department of Homeland Security claimed that Indian truck driver Harjinder Singh whose wrong U-turn took three lives in Florida was given a work permit by the Joe Biden administration -- amid an intense debate over who allowed to let Singh to enter the US and who allowed him to work and get a driver's license. According to records, Harjinder Singh entered the US illegally in 2018 and was arrested by the Border Police two days after he entered. He was released on a $5,000 bond after he said he was scared to go back to India. His immigration status has remained pending since then. As his driver's license was issued from California, the Trump administration blamed Dem-ruled California for sheltering illegal aliens, but Gavin Newsom's office claimed that Harjinder was allowed to stay in the US by the Trump administration. And that's how he got his driver's license. DHS official Tricia McLaughlin now claimed that Singh's work authorization was rejected in 2020 under the Trump administration but it was later approved under the Biden administration in 2021. "The state of California issues Commercial Drivers Licenses. There is no national CDL," the DHS official said Row over Harjinder Singh Harjinder Singh was driving a semi truck on August 12 on when he took a U-turn which was wrong and it resulted in an accident involving a mini van. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Passive Income Ideas Sitting at Home Mone Click Here Undo Two passengers, a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach and a 54-year-old man from Miami, died at the scene. Row over Indian-origin truck driver Harjinder Singh: California Guv's office says he entered US under Trump presidency

Indian-origin truck driver Harjinder Singh who killed three in Florida got his driving license in California. California Governor Gavin Newsom's office passed the buck on President Donald Trump on the issue of illegal alien Harjinder Singh who has been charged with vehicular homicide after his wrong U-turn killed three people in Florida. 35-year-old Harjinder, who is from India, has a commercial driver's license in Dem-ruled California that triggered a political slugfest with Republicans blaming Dem states of becoming the sanctuaries of illegal aliens. Newsom's office said Singh entered the US in 2018 when Trump was the president. Under California's law, one gets a commercial driver's license only when they have a lawful presence in the country, Newsom's office said. Deportation after criminal proceedings The video of Harjinder and a co-passenger inside the truck moments before taking the wrong turn went viral. The accident took place on August 12 near Fort Pierce on the Florida Turnpike when Singh turned his tractor-trailer through an "unauthorized location" which was meant of office use only. After the video went viral, it was found out that Singh entered the US illegally through the southern border in 2018. It's not clear how he managed a driver's license if he was an illegal alien. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Singh faces three counts of vehicular homicide. Under Florida law, vehicular homicide is a second-degree felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. He faces deportation after criminal proceedings. California driver's license rule California's Assembly Bill 60 (AB 60), enacted in 2015, allows undocumented immigrants to apply for a driver's license if they can provide proof of identity and California residency. These licenses are marked "not for federal identification." "This incident underscores the importance and urgency of the work that the Trump Administration is doing to audit CDL issuances nationwide, in addition to its enhanced enforcement of English-language proficiency—a fundamental requirement for operating commercial vehicles in interstate commerce," chief operation officer of American Trucking Association Dan Hovrath told Newsweek.
