49ers WR still awaiting word on suspension after 'no contest' plea to DUI charge
The San Francisco 49ers are still awaiting word on whether veteran wide receiver Demarcus Robinson will be suspended. Robinson was arrested last season for a DUI after he was pulled over by California Highway Patrol for doing more than 100 miles per hour in Southern California. He pleaded 'no contest' to a misdemeanor DUI charge according to ESPN. Two other charges were dropped. Advertisement Via ESPN: Robinson's plea and sentencing took place Tuesday in Los Angeles. He also was ordered to pay a $390 fine and to complete court-mandated programs, including a three-month alcohol education program, the L.A. City Attorney's office told ESPN. "Mr. Robinson has taken this process extremely seriously by already completing most of the terms of his probation. We expect that his probation will terminate early at the 18-month mark after which his case will be expunged," Robinson's attorney, Jacqueline Sparagna, told TMZ Sports. Sparagna told The Orange County Register that two other charges (driving with a BAC of 0.08 or higher and driving without a valid license) were dismissed. It's still unclear whether Robinson will be suspended for last year's arrest. NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco in early May reported the NFL was making a determination on whether the 30-year-old will be suspended for three games. The closer it gets to training camp the harder it is to envision the league forcing Robinson out of three weeks of action. The 49ers would prefer to have Robinson all year since he appears to be a much-needed stabilizing veteran presence in a wide receiver room that's full of question marks. If he does miss time, the club may have to turn to young players like Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins. They could also look to a veteran like Isaiah Hodgins or Russell Gage. Both players are on the 90-man roster and not expected to make the 53-man group at final cuts. However, the team may keep one or both around as veteran practice squad depth. Robinson has played in 147 games across nine NFL seasons. He spent six years with the Kansas City Chiefs, one with the Baltimore Ravens and two with the Los Angeles Rams. Robinson has 250 career receptions, 3,013 yards and 27 touchdown catches. Advertisement The 49ers are scheduled to open training camp on July 24. San Francisco 49ers' Demarcus Robinson learns fate on DUI after being caught speeding over 100mph in LA
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson won't be serving any jail time after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge in California, where more serious charges against the former Super Bowl winner have been dropped. Robinson entered his plea and was sentenced to three years' probation in Los Angeles on Tuesday on top pf paying a $390 fine. What's more, Robinson is also required to complete a three-month alcohol program, according to multiple reports. His attorney, Jacqueline Sparagna, told TMZ Sports they believe the program will end early with his record being expunged. Robinson was also charged with driving with a BAC of 0.08 or higher and driving without a valid license, both of which were dropped, Sparagna told The Orange County Register. The 30-year-old former University of Florida star isn't home free just yet. Robinson could still face punishment from the NFL. The arrest came last November when Robinson was still playing for the Los Angeles Rams. He was witnessed by California Highway Patrol driving at more than 100mph in a white Dodge and later charted in January. Since then, he has signed a two-year, $9.5 million deal with the San Francisco 49ers, who are looking to replace traded star receiver Deebo Samuel. Robinson first made a name for himself behind Tyreek Hill on the Kansas City Chiefs depth chart. He'd ultimately win Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs over his current team, the 49ers. Since then, Robinson has played with the Baltimore Ravens, catching a career-high 48 passes in 2022, before two productive seasons in LA. This season, Robinson looks to be fourth on the 49ers' depth chart behind Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall. The 49ers had a productive season on offense, ranking above all but three NFL teams by averaging 249.1 passing yards per game.

49ers WR Demarcus Robinson pleads no contest to misdemeanor DUI after allegedly driving more than 100 mph while under the influence
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge on Wednesday after police say he was driving more than 100 mph while under the influence of alcohol. Per the Orange County Register, citing the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, Robinson was sentenced to three years probation and assessed a $390 fine. He's required to complete a series of programs including a hospital and morgue program and a three-month alcohol program. He's prohibited from driving while under the influence of any measurable trace of alcohol. He will not serve jail time. Advertisement As part of his plea, separate charges of driving with a .08% blood-alcohol content or higher and driving without a valid license were dismissed, his attorney, Jacqueline Sparagna told the Register. The plea stems from a Nov. 25 arrest in the Los Angeles suburb of Woodland Hills when Robinson was a member of the Rams. California Highway Patrol officers say they observed a white Dodge sedan driving more than 100 mph on Highway 101 around 5:13 a.m. on a Monday. Per a CHP statement, Robinson was driving the car and identified himself after officers pulled him over. According to the statement, Robinson demonstrated 'objective signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment." The arrest took place the morning after a Rams home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, a game in which Robinson caught a touchdown pass. Advertisement After his arrest, Robinson was 'released to a responsible party,' according to CHP. Per the Associated Press, Robinson said after his arrest that it was "a bad look." "I don't want to bring that type of light, or any type of negative energy, toward the team," Robinson said. "Things like that are not natural for me, in my nature, stuff I usually do.' Robinson was formally charged with DUI in January. Robinson played out the season with the Rams and finished with 505 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while playing in all 17 regular-season games. He signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract to join the 49ers in the offseason.
