19 Conservatives React To Epstein Files Being Blocked

In a 211–210 vote, House Republicans have blocked a Democrat-introduced amendment aimed at forcing the Justice Department to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein, who was arrested in 2019 on federal charges for sex trafficking. While awaiting trial, Epstein was found dead in his jail cell — his death ruled by suicide. Conspiracy theories quickly spread, saying that he was murdered to protect the names of other powerful people who may have partaken in the crimes. Despite Attorney General Pam Bondi claiming that additional information about Epstein — including the 'client list' — was "sitting on [her] desk right now to review," the Justice Department released a memo backtracking on Bondi's claim. The memo stated that there was no evidence of an "incriminating 'client list'" and concluded that Epstein did, in fact, die by suicide. Most notably, Elon Musk claimed in a now-deleted post on X that Trump's name is on the Epstein client list. In the post, he wrote, "Time to drop a really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!" Now that the House GOP has blocked the release of the files, here's how conservatives and Republicans are reacting: "I've always been a more 'policy over party' person, finding myself more on the conservative side. I'm disgusted. I already wouldn't vote for Trump after the results of his first term because I think he's a traitor. Now, I don't want to support the Republican party at all." —SolemnPossum "Anyone who objects to releasing the information is either on the list or financially benefitting from someone on said list." "Someone told me that they couldn't release the list because there are so many important people on it that governments would collapse and society would cease to function. Not that I believe that, but even if that's the case, fine. So be it. Any society or government that relies on protecting sex predators don't deserve to exist. Let it burn." "Whether you agree with their vote or not, it should be painfully obvious that this is going to be brought back up in the midterms." "There are two choices. The first is that Pam Bondi lied about there being more files and is trying to throw everyone under the bus because there actually aren't. The second is that Bondi lied that there isn't more stuff, and that everything was already released, and this is all a huge coverup. And everyone involved in said coverup deserves full punishment. Either way, Bondi lied and needs to either get gone or come clean. And the government should be more transparent." —litvisherebbetzin "Conservative here. I think it's slimy as hell, and I can't believe it." "I'm a conservative-liberal/liberal-conservative, and I'm down here in lower Alabama laughing as all the MAGAs I work with self-destruct because their 'messiah' is actually a piece of crap and they don't know how to justify it." "I'll bite, but I guess my thoughts are still the same no matter what. The Epstein list is getting covered up by the current administration, but it also was getting covered up by the previous administration. I think there are people involved who are at a very high level of government, and as long as they're there, it doesn't really matter who the president is. No matter what, the list won't see the light of day. I just honestly wish it would be released so that everyone on it could be brought to justice. In my opinion, it's a lazy political crutch to just be like, 'Oh, my opponent is on the list!' Once it's out there, people just think it's true. And once the accusation is there, it's like being guilty until proven innocent in the public eye. So, I'd rather it just be dealt with in the most transparent way possible, regardless of who the president is." "Traitors. I'm voting blue next election." "I suspect there are a tremendous number of Republicans in the client list. Oh, sure, there might be Democrats there as well. Why do you think the Democrats didn't release it when they were in power? They should release the list, and every single person who committed a crime should be prosecuted and punished. I don't care what their politics are; I don't care what their nationality is. If they committed sex acts on underage girls, put them in prison. I don't care if it's Bill Clinton or Donald Trump or God himself." —florida_man_1970 "Justice must be served. If something is broken by the truth being revealed, it deserves to be broken." "Here's my take: with them going in so hard with the 'There is no list and there never was a list' take, I cannot understand why every one of them wouldn't vote yes and say, 'OK, have fun releasing nothing.' This proves that there IS a list, and they are all being told to stop it from coming out." "It's shitty. They should release it and have EVERYONE in Congress come over with the cops and list off all the names. And every single person in Congress on that list should get arrested live on TV." "As someone who's been voting for the Republican ticket since I was a fetus, let me just blocked the Epstein files?! Color me shocked! This is obviously about protecting the guest list, and I guarantee you, half of it's red ties, the other half is blue suits, and the rest are wearing robes you only get when you hit Level 33 in the 'shadow government.' The only thing they're securing is the right to keep flying private and never answer questions asked by us plebs." "Meanwhile, if I forget to file a 1099, the IRS shows up as if I robbed Fort Knox. I'm not saying everyone in Congress flew to Epstein's Island. All I'm saying is that there's a reason the plane had a priority clearance. You know what this is? American feudalism with better branding. You aren't a citizen anymore; you're an audience member at a coverup with sponsors."—ScotchandRants "My two cents: there is no client list. There may have been at some point, but would've been destroyed immediately to avoid leaking. If it wasn't destroyed, someone would've used it in the election. Now, to the matter of the redaction from the Maxwell trial: those folks were probably involved with immunity deals in exchange for testimony." "Honestly, though, I never expected anything different. However, what I will say is this episode is highlighting who I can trust in the media. People like Charlie Kirk, who I used to trust, are clearly just repeating whatever the administration is telling them rather than holding people's feet to the fire." "I'm a Trump voter. Release the files, dammit. I don't care who's on it — let them face the music. I'm of the belief that there definitely some big names on it, whether they're Republicans, Democrats, or even prominent business and corporation figures. They're so afraid to lose the hold they have on power." "This is the type of legislation decision-making that will make me turn my back on Trump." —IndigoSoullllll Lastly: "Covering this up, hiding information, then attacking anyone who complains is swamp behavior, and our party, including our president, is doing it. I'll only give the Dems partial credit here. I don't think they'd push for it to be released at all if Trump and his allies weren't fighting against it. Otherwise, they would've done it under Biden. So, what they're doing right now is just for show." If you're a Republican, what do you think about the House GOP blocking the release of the Epstein files? Dem bill blames LA wildfire damage on fossil fuel emissions, holds oil and gas industry liable

California Democrats are attempting to make state oil and gas companies pay for damage caused by the Los Angeles wildfires, claiming that fossil fuel emissions are to blame for the deadly disaster. A new Democrat-introduced bill, the Affordable Insurance and Climate Recovery Act, if passed, would allow for "victims of climate disasters," such as the L.A. fires, and insurance groups to sue oil and gas companies for damages under the claim that their emissions fueled the raging fires. Democrat state Sen. Scott Wiener, who introduced the bill this week, said that fossil fuel companies should pay for fire damage, because they are "driving the climate crisis." "Californians shouldn't be the only ones to pay the costs of devastating climate disasters. From last year's floods to the fires in LA, we know that the fossil fuel industry bears ultimate responsibility for fueling these disasters," state Sen. Scott Wiener wrote in a post on X announcing the legislation.
