Homicide team sent to Maple Ridge after man found dead in vehicle in apparent shooting

Social Sharing Police in Maple Ridge are investigating two crime scenes kilometres apart after a man was found unresponsive with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle at a local gas station. Denise Harrington, who lives across the street, said she heard a succession of gunshots shortly after midnight Tuesday near the intersection of 240 Street and Dewdney Trunk Road. "Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop … it was really quick, one right after the other," she said Wednesday morning as police worked at the crime scene. "It's just sirens or whoop-whooping up over here," said Harrington's husband Philip about the emergency response to the violence. "And they came one right after the other, and it was just, it's just insanity." Ridge Meadows RCMP say the shooting took place in the area of 246 Street and 124 Avenue, and the victim, who police have not identified, was discovered inside a vehicle at the gas station. Police said they administered first aid, but the victim did not survive. Ridge Meadows RCMP say the shooting occurred in the area of 246th Street and 124th Avenue. The victim, who has not been identified, was later found inside a vehicle at the gas station. Police said officers administered first aid, but the victim did not survive. Both locations were cordoned off Wednesday as the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took over the case in partnership with Ridge Meadows RCMP. The violence comes three weeks after an unrelated homicide in Maple Ridge that made headlines. A neighbourhood dispute ended with a husband and wife killed, and their neighbour dead from a self-inflicted injury. Denise Harrington said the latest incident, near where she lives, is upsetting. "I feel angry for my community… I feel scared for my children." No arrests have been made or suspects identified. Police are seeking tips from the public and dash-camera video from the time of the incident. Const. Tisha Parsons with Ridge Meadows RCMP said she understands the community's concern over the violence. "We certainly understand people's concerns following this incident," she said. "We share their concerns and are committed to finding those responsible and bringing them to justice."
