Generate Key Takeaways Strong to severe storms possible on Thursday ahead of long stretch of unsettled weather We are in for a stretch that will include periods of rain starting today, and Thursday also brings the chance for some isolated strong to severe storms. Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz said the storms will start popping late in the afternoon into the evening. 'The greatest risk is in far North Georgia, the North Georgia mountains, and points to the north. We do have a threat, a little bit low, across the metro,' Nitz said. The risks with the stronger storms that develop are damaging winds and hail. TRENDING STORIES: Going into our Mother's Day weekend, the rain sticks around. Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Eboni Deon said you will want to keep the umbrella handy. 'A cold front moves in Thursday night, and that's going to trigger more rain. Some of that rain could be heavy at times,' Deon said. Deon said many areas could see half-an-inch to an inch of rain, and even some localized areas seeing two inches of rain by the end of the weekend. Deon said the heaviest rain will stay south of the Atlanta metro.

' Deon is a true warrior and still has a significant contribution to make for us next season, both on the field and in terms of his leadership. ' He is a remarkable player who has done so much for this team over the years and we know that he will give all he has in characteristic fashion when he returns next season,' said Dobson. Fourie said that while missing the business-end of the current season will be frustrating, he is ready to empty the tank for the team he has served so well next season. ' Injuries are part of the game and luckily this one was not as severe as it could have been. I'll get right behind the boys as they head towards the play-offs and then focus on recovery and making as big an impact as I can next season. ' Playing for this team means a lot to me and you can be sure that I'll be giving all I can and making the most of every chance I get to pull that jersey on next season,' he said. Fourie also made his mark at Test level representing the Springboks in 13 Tests. His last famously came on against the All Blacks in the 2023 Rugby World Cup final in Paris.

Springbok World Cup winner denies retirement talk

This past weekend there were real concerns raised over a serious leg injury suffered by Springbok veteran Deon Fourie in the Stormers' game against Connacht. Making his ninth appearance of the season, the 38-year-old lasted just moments before unfortunately breaking his leg after coming off the bench. Straight after the game, Stormers coach admitted there were understandable concerns: 'That's a very serious injury, by the looks of things. You'll remember last year after La Rochelle (when Fourie also suffered a horrible injury), Deon said 'I'm not finishing my career in a golf cart'. 'Knowing Deon, he's not going to want to finish it like that. Let's hope.' That hope now seems to have been realised, with Fourie taking to social media on Thursday to state that surgery was 'done and dusted', and that he would aim to be back after three months. 'Big thumbs up from the recovery room,' he wrote. 'If everything goes well I'll be back in 12 weeks doing what I love. Grateful for the incredible support around me and everyone's messages.' Springbok news: Another retirement nears, Sacha admits error

Springbok fans were dealt another injury blow last weekend after Deon Fourie's one-minute cameo ended in disaster. Brought on in the 62nd minute, subbed off in the 63rd; Fourie was later spotted in crutches and a leg brace, visibly fearing the worst. A few days later it was confirmed to be a broken tibula, renowned for being a season-ending injury, tarnishing the 38-year-old's hopes of earning another Springbok cap. 'It's a broken tibia, so he'll be out for a while,' Sharks forwards coach, Rito Hlungwani, said in a post-match conference. 'Losing a player of Deon's calibre and experience is a major blow. But you know, Deon was in yesterday and he is in today. He is one guy that really contributes to the team in total different ways. So not having him on the field is a major blow, but he'll still be present. 'He has really took Paul de Villiers under his wing. He was in the office today analysing the game with him, so we're still have him in that regard, it's just tricky and tough not having him on the field. We're moving forward and he is helping us move forward in the right ways.' Meanwhile, teammate Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu offered insight into how he can grow as a player, saying, 'I think I am well on the way there [to learning from those yellow card mistakes]. 'My job for any team I play for is to move the needle forward and that wasn't one of my best moments,' the Springbok fly-half admitted. 'But I like to play the game at 100% and sometimes I am going to be on the edge. Of course you don't get that yellow card if you have played a perfect game on the edge so I know that it cost the team and it isn't a good look for Stormers rugby. 'But I want to keep giving 100% for the team and just not make those little mistakes. I want to mature my game so I stay on the right side of yellow cards but at the same time I don't want to change my game or my competitiveness for the team.' Springbok forward ruled out indefinitely—Retirement on the cards

Rassie Erasmus' Springbok camp has been dealt another injury blow following Deon Fourie's injury against Connacht last weekend. The World Cup winner lasted just one minute before being substituted off in the 63rd minute after sustaining a broken tibia in open play. The 38-year-old was later seen visibly upset, in crutches and a brace. While Stormers are yet to confirm, many believe this to be a season-ending injury, denting his chances of donning the green and gold again. 'It's a broken tibia, so he'll be out for a while,' Sharks forwards coach, Rito Hlungwani, said after the game. 'Losing a player of Deon's calibre and experience is a major blow. But you know, Deon was in yesterday and he is in today,' the Stormers assistant coach revealed. 'He is one guy that really contributes to the team in total different ways. So not having him on the field is a major blow, but he'll still be present. 'He has really took Paul de Villiers under his wing. He was in the office today analysing the game with him, so we're still have him in that regard, it's just tricky and tough not having him on the field. We're moving forward and he is helping us move forward in the right ways.' It feels like an age since the Springboks last took to the field, a sad realisation that is scheduled to be overturned from the beginning of July, after which, fans will enjoy a flurry of high-calibre games. There first game is against Italy on July 5 at Loftus Versfald. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
