Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority selects China Visitors Summit (CVS) as Official Event for August 2025

Post Views: 26 The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has officially selected the China Visitors Summit (CVS) to be held in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain on 28–29 August 2025. This landmark event will bring together 150 elite Chinese travel industry buyers, making it the largest B2B gathering of Chinese outbound travel professionals ever hosted outside of China. The CVS Abu Dhabi is a highly curated, by-invitation-only event. The attending Chinese buyers are carefully vetted and confirmed to be actively doing business with the UAE—specifically with travel products and services in the Abu Dhabi Emirate. Delegates include senior executives from: • Travel agencies and tour operators • Luxury agents, wholesalers and bespoke travel designers • MICE managers and corporate travel planners • OTAs and niche specialists in adventure, culture, culinary, wellness, and more Over the course of the two-day, face-to-face workshop, participating Abu Dhabi travel suppliers—including hotels, DMCs, attractions, museums, shopping malls, and transportation companies—will engage in pre-scheduled B2B appointments. Each supplier will have the ability to personally select the Chinese buyers most relevant to their product, whether focused on leisure groups, luxury FITs, or MICE and corporate segments. In addition to the business meetings, the CVS program includes local experience days in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, designed to give the Chinese delegates firsthand exposure to the products they may sell. These include hotel site inspections, cultural experiences, F&B showcases, and interactive destination briefings, allowing buyers to become more effective ambassadors for Abu Dhabi upon returning to China. This 2025 edition of CVS Abu Dhabi marks a return to the summit's roots. Originally launched in Abu Dhabi in 2013, CVS has since expanded globally. With its initial event since 2008, CVS is now recognized as the longest-running and most impactful China-focused B2B travel event series in the world. Each participating buyer from China: • Is individually approved based on their business volume into the GCC region • Holds a senior procurement or product development role within their organization • Pays a personal registration fee and covers their own international airfare (averaging $2,000 USD per person)—ensuring a highly motivated, high-value delegation

Visit Abu Dhabi's 2025 Urban Treasures for a hit of nostalgia

One would think that as a city grows and grows, the little old shops you frequented when you went to school would be wiped away by time. But not in Abu Dhabi. Despite the capital's fast-paced development and ever-changing dining scene, some beloved spots have stood the test of time. Helping shine a spotlight on these icons is the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), through its Urban Treasures initiative. Now in its third year, the initiative honours long-standing local businesses – cafés, family-run restaurants, tailors and jewellers – that have been part of the city's fabric for more than 20 years. Here are 15 of Abu Dhabi's finest heritage establishments that continue to hold a special place in our hearts, and if you haven't visited them yet, now's the time. Abu Dhabi's Urban Treasures 2025 ORCHID TAILORING & EMBROIDERY SHOP For nearly four decades, this local tailor shop has been the neighbourhood's go-to for custom cuts and intricate embellishments. Their handiwork has stitched its way into wardrobes across generations. MOHAMMED FAROOQ PERFUMES Mohammed Farooq Perfumes has been creating fragrances since 1980 – scents designed to linger long after you've left the room. If you know the Emirates, you know we love our fragrance. So it's not surprising to know there's a perfume shop on nearly every corner in Abu Dhabi. The brand's continued success speaks volumes about its heritage and commitment to quality craftsmanship. Al Jumaira Studio and Stores Since 1991, Al Jumaira Studio has been in the business of preserving memories. From wedding portraits to graduation snaps, they've documented life's biggest milestones for families across Abu Dhabi. Al Yahar Modern Restaurant Kitchen Known for its hearty meals and comforting Middle Eastern flavours, this Al Ain favourite has been dishing out homestyle cooking for over 20 years. It's the kind of place where regulars feel like family. The portion size and the spacious seating area have been a hit for long. Three Star Watches Shop A trusted name since 1985, Three Star Watches Shop has been helping customers find the perfect timepiece, whether it's a classic upgrade to your wrist candy or a special gift. Shawarma Ala AlRagef Cafeteria One of the first things we tell anyone new to the UAE? You've got to try a proper shawarma – it's a bucket-list item, a rite of passage. If you're in Abu Dhabi, we say make the drive to Al Ain for a bite at Shawarma Ala AlRagef. It's a humble little spot with a big following. Locals swear by it when the late-night cravings hit, and once you try one of their wraps, you'll understand why it's made its way onto so many must-visit lists. HAPPY YEMEN RESTAURANT Happy Yemen has been bringing the soulful, spice-laden cuisine of Yemen to the city for years, since 1982. Think mandi, fahsa and a whole lot of warmth. Looking for a plate of mandi? This is where to sit down for your next family dinner. Ahmed Sultan Al Salami Trading and Importing This long-standing business (since 1948!) has quietly powered Abu Dhabi's trading scene with reliable service and a reputation for quality that's stood strong through the years. Al Ain International Medical Polyclinic This community clinic has been putting patients first for over two decades, offering accessible, trusted care to families in Al Ain. Baqala Cheese & Pickles Centre Started in 1979, this baqala has a fantastic collection of cheese, cured meats and pickles. For those in the know, this humble spot is a flavour goldmine. From sharp cheeses to tangy pickles, it's all about the good stuff, packed and preserved to perfection. Khulood Club This gym and fitness studio was founded in 1984, if you can believe it. Having trained Abu Dhabi residents in karate, kickboxing, MMA and Brazilian jiu jitsu for over three decades, the shop deserves the treasured status. They offer a comprehensive suite of facilities, including a fully equipped gymnasium. Gulf Pastry Sometimes, some of the best bakeries are the ones we've been visiting since we were little. Middle Eastern bakery Gulf Pastry is one such classic. For Mushaltats for a mere 35 fils or a meat pastry for Dhs3, one simply can't not want to visit. With 25 years in the industry and 43 branches across the UAE, it's safe to call it an institution of sorts. Zahrat Al Khaleej Zahrat Al Khaleej Nabulsi Sweets has been keeping Al Ain sweet since 1981, serving up legendary kunafa and other irresistible Nabulsi treats. It's the go-to spot when you're craving a taste of tradition wrapped in melt-in-your-mouth goodness. The beloved confectionery destination is renowned for Nabulsi sweets, especially a mean kunafa. Nauras Nauras has been stepping up Abu Dhabi's shoe game since 1969, famously bringing the iconic Florida Sandal to the UAE. With Italian craftsmanship and luxe leather at its core, this brand is all about timeless style that lasts. Al Sidr Natural Honey Who says you need to leave the UAE for pure, natural honey? Al Sidr Natural Honey has been crafting the liquid gold right here in Abu Dhabi since 1986. With its own bee farm and time-honoured production methods, the honey here is rich and has a distinct flavour. It just belongs in your morning tea. Want to take a trip back to the past? You now know where to go.
