121 road laying works costing ₹85-crore started in Kanniyakumrai district
Minister for Dairy Development T. Mano Thangaraj on Tuesday inaugurated 121 road laying works costing ₹85.36 crore in the areas falling under various town panchayats in the district.
The roads are to be laid by the Department of Municipal Administration and under other special schemes for about 160.24 km in various town panchayats of the district.
Inaugurating the road laying works, Mr. Mano Thangaraj said development works including laying of roads, construction of primary health centres, additional buildings in the hospitals, bridges, bus stands etc. had been taken up across the district for improving the basic infrastructure as it would indirectly boost tourism in Kanniyakumari district, which had been blessed with numerous number of tourist places. Hence, 121 road laying works had been initiated on Tuesday.
The public, who were submitting petitions for redressing their personal grievances in 'Ungaludan Stalin' camps, could also draw the attention of the officials for improving other infrastructure in their area.
'While the personal grievances submitted in these camps are being redressed by the officials concerned, the district administration will take care of the general grievances like laying of roads, streamlined drinking water supply, better healthcare etc. Hence, the public should make use of the 'Ungaludan Stalin' camps being organised in their areas,' Mr. Mano Thangaraj appealed.
District Collector R. Alagumeena, MLAs Rajesh Kumar, Tharahai Cathburt and senior government officials were present.
