Chandigarh education dept launches WhatsApp communication channel for schools
The Department of School Education, UT Chandigarh, has launched an official WhatsApp communication channel, connecting school heads, teachers, cluster coordinators, and administrators across the city on a unified digital platform. This initiative aligns with the department's broader digital transformation agenda, anchored by the implementation of the School Management Information System (SMIS), and marks a significant shift toward agile, transparent, and data-driven administration. As per H Brar, director, School Education, Chandigarh, the channel will facilitate a two-way communication between the department and schools, sharing training resources and technical guidance, cutting down office delays, fostering transparent decision-making, and creating a digitally connected education ecosystem. Education Secretary Prerna Puri said the department is moving toward an integrated, tech-enabled governance framework. 'We are not merely digitising existing systems, we are reimagining the way schools function, and this channel is a step toward an education system that is transparent, connected, and capable of real-time responsiveness,' she said. Upcoming SMIS milestones include completion of mapping modules, 100% digital attendance implementation from August 1 and phased rollout of automated features, including report cards and staff mapping. The department has issued guidelines for the responsible use of the channel, which is an official communication platform. Chandigarh is among the first UTs to adopt such a digitally inclusive, real-time communication framework, enabling schools to respond swiftly to dynamic needs, reduce paperwork, and focus on quality education. 'It will improve administrative efficiency but also empower schools to make informed, student-centric decisions,' said Brar.

AP launches ‘Green Passport' in 46,000 schools to nurture young eco-warriors
VIJAYAWADA: In a major step toward environmental stewardship, the state government has launched the 'Green Passport' initiative, aimed at nurturing young eco-warriors across more than 46,000 schools in the State. The programme, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's national campaign Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, encourages students to plant or adopt a tree in honour of their mothers — blending emotional resonance with environmental action. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu officially launched the initiative on July 10 during the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (Mega PTM 2.0). Since then, the programme has gained rapid momentum, transforming school campuses into hubs of greenery and environmental learning. From Grade 4 onwards, students are actively participating by planting saplings, adopting existing trees, and tracking their growth using a personalised digital booklet titled My Journey with Plant Growth. Each tree is assigned a unique QR code containing botanical information and care guidelines. Students are required to log progress updates, which are verified by teachers to ensure ongoing engagement. The entire ecosystem is managed through the LEAP app, which enables geo-tagging and real-time monitoring of each tree. According to the Department of School Education, over 1.93 million students have already enrolled in the programme. B Srinivasa Rao, SPD of Samagra Siksha – AP and architect of the initiative, told TNIE, 'This programme is fundamentally changing our relationship with nature in schools. Our children are now guardians of these trees. The impact will be visible within a year as campuses across the state turn greener and more vibrant.'

TS TET 2025 Results Out: The Department of School Education, Government of Telangana, has released the TS TET Result 2025 on July 22. Candidates who appeared for Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test (TGTET) can access their results via the official portal at The exam is for those candidates who want to secure a teacher's eligibility certification for recruitment in government schools across Telangana. The TET exam evaluates applicants in two segments: Paper 1 for primary level teachers and Paper 2 for upper primary level teachers.
