City reveals Blaisdell Concert Hall renovations for first time
HONOLULU (KHON2) — After 20 months of renovations, the Blaisedell Center Concert Hall is now open to the public with many anticipated performances. The City revealed a new and improved facility for the first time on Thursday, March 20.

A $10 million renovation at the Blaisdell Center Concert Hall boasted a safer and modernized facility.
'The architects have been very good about selecting finishes that match the period of the building, which is mid-sixties without looking like it's been here since the mid-sixties,' stated John Condrey, Dept. of Design & Construction (DDC) Architect.
Enhancements include a full rigging replacement, a new fire suppression system, improved backstage facilities and more.

'Most notable is the walkway lighting and our parking lot lighting. We did this project to enhance the safety and security of the site and also to make the facility a little bit more attractive to the people who attend,' said Allyn Lee, DDC Mechanical, Electrical Division Program Administrator.
Audiences were welcomed back for the first time in early March. The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra taking the stage for the first time in nearly three years.
The community now anticipating more performances such as Broadway musicals set to open in next phase of renovations will start again in January 2027, which will close the concert hall for another 14 months.
