Who Will Morgan Wallen Walk Out With For His I'm the Problem Tour Debut? Here's His Six Best NFL Cameos
When Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem tour kicks off Friday (June 20) at Houston's NRG Stadium, all eyes will be looking to see if he continues his trend of walking out to the stage with local pro athletes. It's become a highlight of the shows and the walk outs — broadcast on the venue's jumbotrons — pump up the audience as much as they do Wallen. More from Billboard Kelsea Ballerini Calls Noah Kahan 'a Joy' to Perform With Steve Ray Ladson Wows Crowd (and Catches Mel B's Eye) With Original 'Blackgrass Brothercana' Anthem 'Back of My Truck' Caroline Jones Etches a Roadmap to Personal Freedom on 'No Tellin'': 'I Think There's a Big Cultural Shift Around This Conversation' NRG Stadium is home to the NFL's Houston Texans and the team doesn't report to training camp until Sunday, June 22, so our bet is on All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. making the walk with him. Wallen told Apple Music Country last week that he's been in training himself, getting ready for the 20-date football stadium outing which will hit 10 cities through Sept. 13. Among his opening acts are Koe Wetzel, Miranda Lambert, Brooks & Dunn, Ella Langley, Gavin Adcock and Thomas Rhett. 'I spend months at this point getting ready to get on tour, just getting in shape,' he said. 'I don't have to be in any kind of crazy shape to record in the studio. With how big my stage is, how much I run around, and how much effort that me and the guys put into it, I don't think you would know that by just listening to the record.' Wallen remains on top of the charts, as I'm The Problem stays at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for its fourth consecutive week since its May 16 release. Below are six Wallen walkouts from the 2023-2024 One Night at a Time tour with NFL greats. We'll also be looking to see if the walkout music has changed from 'Broadway Girls,' his 2022 collaboration with Lil Durk. For his three hometown shows at Nashville's Nissan Stadium last May, Wallen was cheered on May 2 by Tennessee Titan wide receiver DeAndre Watkins, who is now with the Kansas City Chiefs. They were accompanied by Wallen's pal and podcaster Theo Von. Dallas's AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas exploded on July 26, 2024 when former Cowboys QB Troy Aikman walked out with Wallen. Aikman may have been relatively reserved compared to some of Wallen's other walkout buddies, but it didn't matter to the legend's fans. On Aug. 2, 2024, Wallen walked out with three members of the Kansas City Chiefs, the then-reigning Super Bowl champs at Geha Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Wearing kicker Harrison Butker's No. 7 jersey, Wallen was flanked by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and defensive tackle Chris Jones. For his Sept. 22, 2024 show at Knoxville, Tennessee's Neyland Stadium, Wallen brought out the big guns. Manning is, of course, a pro football legend from his time with the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos, but it all started at University of Tennessee with Manning as QB in 1994. He donned his UT uniform to get the crowd extra hyped. They weren't alone; they were joined by current UT football coach Josh Heupel and then-UT wide receiver Bru McCoy and QB Nico Iamaleava (who has since transferred to UCLA). The Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield made the long walk with Wallen on Oct. 4, 2024 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., along with pro wrestler Hulk Hogan. Mayfield returned to sing 'Whiskey, Whiskey' with Wallen on stage. The GOAT, Tom Brady, helped get Wallen pumped as he joined him for the walkout Aug. 9, 2024 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Of course, Brady played for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, who play at Allegiant. They were joined by boxing GOAT, Mike Tyson. Texans Cornerback Duo Ranked as NFL's Best Entering 2025
Texans Cornerback Duo Ranked as NFL's Best Entering 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Entering the 2025 season, the Houston Texans are expected to have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Among that defense, is a secondary, led by a pair of cornerbacks, that gave opposing offensive coordinators fits last season. Advertisement Bleacher Report's Moe Moton recently published an article ranking the league's 10 best cornerback duos ahead of the 2025 season. Atop the list was Houston's Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter. "The Houston Texans' cornerback duo takes the top spot because they check all the boxes next to consistency, ball production, accolades and upside." Moton wrote. Last season, Stingley Jr. and Lassiter combined for eight interceptions, 28 passes defended, and 112 total tackles. "At least for now, Derek Stingley Jr. is the highest-paid CB. He's making the megabucks for good reason, allowing a completion rate below 48 percent with five interceptions in consecutive seasons." Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. (24) participates in a drillMaria Lysaker-Imagn Images Lassiter, a second-round pick out of Georgia in the 2024 NFL Draft, enjoyed an impressive rookie campaign last fall. Advertisement "At Georgia, Lassiter took on a versatile role, but he settled in as a boundary cornerback in Houston. He was a season-opening starter and looked natural on the outside. He recorded 10 pass breakups, three interceptions and scored on a safety in 14 games." Lassiter also bested his All-Pro teammate in one category last season. "Though Stingley matches up against the league's top receivers, it's worth noting Lassiter allowed a lower completion rate (43.8) than his All-Pro teammate (47.1) last season." Moton wrote. As a result of Lassiter and Stingley's play, the Texans' defense led the NFL holding opponents to a 58.27 completion percentage, and finished second behind the Minnesota Vikings (24) with 19 interceptions. Advertisement "The Texans have the league's best secondary when you factor in safeties Calen Bullock and Jalen Pitre and versatile defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson, but they also have the best young cornerback duo with Stingley and Lassiter on the boundary." Related: Veteran WR Christian Kirk Reveals Texans Ceiling with QB C.J. Top 10 cap hits for Houston Texans in 2025 after free agency
Top 10 cap hits for Houston Texans in 2025 after free agency The Houston Texans have done most of the work they plan on accomplishing in free agency. The two-time AFC South champions under DeMeco Ryans already made headlines after trading away five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders. But not all has been bad. Houston shored up its defense with the additions of defensive tackle Shedlon Rankins and do-it-all defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson. They also made smaller signings like wide receiver Braxton Berrios, fullback Jakob Johnson and offensive tackle Cam Robinson. With those moves, plus the extensions of All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr and Pro Bowl defensive end Danielle Hunter, the Texans currently have (as of Thursday) just under $29 million in cap space. Currently, a total of 12 Texans have a cap hit of at least $5 million in 2025. Let's have a look at which players have the 10 biggest cap hits in 2025. Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr. 'ready to get back into it' after inking new extension
Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr. 'ready to get back into it' after inking new extension What did Houston Texans defensive back Derek Stingley Jr. do to celebrate his new three-year, $90 million extension? Did he take a trip to Euproe? Did he buy his family a new house? 'I had me some crawfish," Stingley said Wednesday. "That was about it.' It's back to the lab for Stingley, Houston's top defensive player and anchor for a unit that carried the AFC South champions back to the divisional round. He'll earn $30 million annually once the contract kicks in in 2026. He'll be locked down with the franchise through 2029 as the face of Houston's secondary and one of the league's top defenders. He's worth every penny, too. After being fully healthy for the first time since his freshman season at LSU, Stingley reached new heights in coverage. He was voted first-team All-Pro and earned his first Pro Bowl selection after finishing second in pass breakups (18) and top 10 in interceptions (five). Stingley's standout game against the Miami Dolphins while shadowing All-Pro Tyreek Hill cemented him as a game-changer. His two interceptions and five deflections outing in Houston's playoff win over the Los Angeles Chargers proved he was elite. "Every single year it seems like I've gained their trust more,' Stingley said. "[The coaching staff is] allowing me to be comfortable with who I am, whether that's on the field or off the field. So, there was never any pressure to be this person or be that person. So, I think it's pretty cool. They actually believe in me.' Stingley believes this is only the start for the Texans. After adding defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins and trading for do-it-all defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Houston's top-10 defense should only improve in every metric. It's something the third-year defensive back expects to see no later than midseason. "We are the standard, really. But I feel like it's just going to add another level of, 'We're here. This is our defense, this is the way we play football,'" Stingley said. "So, think it's going to be good.' Stingley's mindset has never been built around being the highest-paid defensive back. He wants to play football, improve his production and help Houston win a title. Now signed, that's the only priority for Stingley. Everything now is about working. 'It's time to start playing football,' Stingley said. 'I'm ready to get back into it. That's really it."

Texans CB Derek Stingley setting the new standard for record-setting extensions
There always has to be a first to make history in the NFL. At cornerback, that appears to be Houston Texans star Derek Stingley Jr. Stingley, fresh off an All-Pro season and top-five finish in defensive metrics, officially signed his three-year, $90 million extension that will make him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. Locked in through 2029, the third-year cornerback will be the first defensive back to earn $30 million per season. Advertisement While Carolina Panthers corner Jaycee Horn recently inked a $100 million extension, his annual salary is only $25 million. For cornerbacks who regularly prove their value in coverage as shutdown defenders, expect $25 million to be the starting price. For elite defenders? Stingley believes he's the first of several future $30 million cornerbacks. "Receivers are starting to touch $40 million [annually]," Stingley told ESPN's D.J. Bien-Amie. "[We're] the people that are going out there and competing against them. I think it's good that the cornerback position and other defensive positions are starting to get up there, too. But I think it's just good for the sport. Obviously with time it's gonna keep on going up, so I'm excited to see who is gonna make [the next] deal like that." Last season, Stingley set the standard in a top-10 secondary en route to helping Houston clinch a second AFC South division title. He finished second in pass breakups (18), sixth in interceptions (5) and allowed the second-lowest completion percentage among cornerbacks with at least 200 coverage snaps (46.7%), according to NFL Next Gen Stats. Overall, Houston ranked sixth in pass defense, allowing 201 yards per game. They also notched 19 interceptions, including at least three from each key starter. Advertisement Stingley sees the Texans' secondary only improving with the arrival of do-it-all defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson from Philadelphia. Last season, he totaled six interceptions and 12 pass breakups while helping the Eagles clinch their first Super Bowl title since 2017. "He is going to bring a whole other- like Kamari [Lassiter], the craziness. He is going to bring that too," Stingley said of Garnder-Johnson. "I think he will gel well with the rest of us, and we are just going to go out there and have fun.' Much like receivers, cornerbacks will soon command top dollar. Earlier this week, the Cincinnati Bengals agreed to extensions for both Ja'Marr Chase (four-year, $161 million) and Tee Higgins (four-year, $115 million) after serving as staples for Joe Burrow in the passing game. Stingley has shut both pass-catchers down. He also limited successful outings for Miami's Tyreek Hill, Minnesota's Justin Jefferson, Dallas' CeeDee Lamb and others en route to his first All-Pro season. Each player is making over $30 million annually to catch touchdowns. For Stingley, his new contract should at least be in the same ballpark if he's preventing the scoring, though that was never his focus when negotiating terms. Advertisement 'I kind of went into this situation just basically just thinking, like, 'Just playing football,' " Stingley said. "I wasn't really focused on how all of that was going to get done. It got done and it's cool. The market is different now, but that doesn't really have anything to do with me really. I am just here to play football.'
