Micky Dolenz, the last remaining member of The Monkees, recently embraced a fun opportunity to connect with fans and reflect on the early days of his career. He headlined the event alongside iconic entertainer Priscilla Presley, 80, to celebrate a notable anniversary.
Dolenz took to social media on August 13 to share some highlights of the event where he appeared.
"Over the weekend, Micky joined Priscilla Presley to help celebrate 100 years of the historic Des Plaines Theatre," the caption on Dolenz's Instagram post read.
The caption indicated that during the event at the Illinois theater, a "special guest" was on hand to represent each decade of the theater's history. Dolenz was the guest during the segment on the 1960s, and Presley was on hand for the 1950s.
The event began by showing the first film that was ever shown at the theater. It was a silent film, the caption of the Instagram post indicated, and at the time, the tickets cost only a quarter. Treats, like ice cream, could be purchased for 5 cents.
As the celebration continued, attendees were treated to a parade and car show. Dolenz, Presley, and other special guests were a part of those events, where they "kicked off the evening events in style."
Several photos were included in Dolenz's Instagram post. One showed him posing with Presley, and another showed them on stage together as they interacted with the audience. The third photo showed the two backstage, along with another of the event's special guests.
The event was put together by Onesti Entertainment and took place on August 9. Presley and Dolenz were "Grand Marshals" of the event, along with "Ides of March" and Danny Seraphine, the founding drummer of the band Chicago.
The event seemed to be a great success.
On the theater's Facebook post about the day, one fan noted it was fantastic. "From the parade of old cars to the performers it was a great journey through the decades. Music combined with on stage interviews with Priscilla and Mickey Dolan (sic) were incredible."
Fans gushed over Dolenz and the event on his Instagram post.
One wrote, "I loved meeting you and Priscilla!"
Another raved, "So cool!!"
