Grease is the word at Canfield High School
CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Get ready to head back to Rydell High as the Canfield players bring the beloved musical 'Grease' to the stage this week.

The musical features a group of teenagers against the backdrop of 1950s rock and roll. The musical was made especially popular by the 1978 film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. It tells the story of Sandy, a goody two shoes, and Danny, a charming greaser, who had a summer romance that gets complicated once school starts.
The all-student cast has been working for weeks to get everything ready and say it's the show you know and love but there are definitely some new things.
It's also bittersweet for the two leads who are seniors and graduating this year.
'A lot of new songs added; there's a lot of kind of different storytelling, in a way. I mean, it's still the same old movie, you know, but just in a new form,' said senior Aubrey Vernon, who plays Sandy. 'We've all been working really hard, as well as our crew and our pit.'
Just like in the musical, many of the students have been performing together since the beginning of high school.
'It's a good group of guys. We've all kind of grown up together, and so many of us could take on so many different roles because we all are the kind of leaders in our own right,' said senior Topher Drombetta, who plays Danny. 'But every character has some depth that was never seen before. It's just great to be up there with my guys, but to continue to have that bond that we have with each other is just something so special.'
If you were born to hand jive, the show is not to be missed.
Grease opens Thursday, April 10, and runs through Sunday, April 13. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 p.m., and Sunday is a 2:30 p.m. matinee. The show is at Canfield High School's auditorium, located at 100 Cardinal Drive.
Tickets are sold at the door by cash or check only. You can follow the Canfield Players on Facebook.
