Two men charged over deliberate fire in Tain
Two men have been arrested and charged over a deliberate fire at a house in Tain in the Highlands. Emergency services were called to a fire on Mansfield Estate at about 04:20 on Thursday. It was extinguished and no-one was injured. Officers are investigating a similar fire at the same housing estate on Sunday and said they were keeping an "open mind" on whether the incidents were linked. The men, aged 19 and 40, are due to appear at Tain Sheriff Court at a later date. Det Insp Calum Reid said: "Inquiries are ongoing into both incidents and I'd ask anyone with information to come forward. "We appreciate how concerning these incidents have been for the local community in Tain and want residents to be assured that we are investigating theses fires and are determined to find those responsible."

Police seek man after dog found dead after Inverness wilful fire
Police are investigating a suspicious fire in an Inverness blaze was reported at about 08.10 on Wednesday on Caledonian Road in the Dalneigh area of the city. No injuries have been reported, but police said a dog was found dead inside the property. Police Scotland said it was treating the fire as wilful.
