Arrests over shooting at Doncaster house in 'targeted attack gone wrong'
Two men have been arrested after a house with a mother and child inside was shot at in a "targeted attack gone wrong".Police were called to reports of gunshots on Petersgate in the Scawthorpe area of Doncaster at about 00:24 BST on Friday and found a damaged window and said the mother and child, who were asleep, were not hurt but "were wrongly put in danger following reckless behaviour".The men, aged 52 and 55, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence and have both been released on bail. A South Yorkshire force spokesperson said a red 4x4 which had fled the scene of the shooting was found on fire in nearby Green Lane shortly Insp Claire Moss said: "Hearing gun fire in the middle of the night will have been terrifying, and rightly this would have caused concern in the community."She urged anyone with information to come forward."Our communities often hold local knowledge and intelligence that can help fill the gaps in our investigations - if you know something that will help, do the right thing." Four men arrested in Dinnington after shots fired during fight
Four men have been arrested after a man was injured during a fight in which gunshots were officers were called to Swinston Hill Road in Dinnington, Rotherham, at about 19:15 BST on Tuesday amid reports of "a group of men fighting with weapons", South Yorkshire Police men, aged 67 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. One of the arrested men was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the force 21-year-old men were also arrested on suspicion of affray. All four remained in police custody on Thursday. Det Insp Claire Moss said investigations were still being carried out and the area would be subject to extra police patrols due to a gun being said: "Using a firearm as a weapon will not be tolerated within South Yorkshire, and a team of detectives are working at pace to ensure that those responsible for posing this risk our communities are held responsible."From CCTV enquiries we know that there were people driving through the area, and we are urging those with dashcam or footage of the disorder to get in touch."Even if you believe your information to be small and insignificant, it could be vital to our investigation and securing evidence."
