Second death after four-car crash on major road

A second person has died following a four-vehicle crash on a major road. Thames Valley Police said the collision between a grey Audi A3, a grey Jaguar XE, a black Ford Puma and a grey Seat Leon happened on the A44 near Enstone, Oxfordshire, on 9 July at about 15:20 BST. The Ford driver, 85, died at the scene. His passenger, a woman in her 70s, sustained life-threatening injuries and has now died, the force said. The driver of the Audi, a man in his 60s, remains in a serious condition, it added. The woman's family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Police said the Jaguar driver suffered minor injuries and the driver of the Seat was uninjured. No arrests have been made in connection with the crash, Thames Valley Police confirmed. A pensioner has died in a four-car crash in the Cotswolds. Two other people are in hospital with life-threatening injuries following the crash on the A44 between Enstone and London Road in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. The 85-year-old man was driving a Ford Puma when it was involved in a collision with a Audi A3, a Jaguar XE and a Seat Leon at about 3.20pm on Wednesday. The elderly man died at the scene, while a woman in her 70s, who was a passenger in the car, and the driver of the Audi suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Jaguar, a man in his 60s, was treated in hospital for minor injuries but has since been discharged, Thames Valley Police said. Det Sgt Lyndsey Blackaby, the investigating officer, said: 'Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this extremely difficult time and we have specially trained officers supporting the deceased man's family. 'I am appealing for anyone who saw the collision to contact us. I am also appealing for anyone with a dash-camera who was driving in the area at the time to check their recordings and let us know if they captured anything that could help our investigation.'
