Four alleged drug peddlers arrested
The sleuths from Cyber Economic and Narcotic (CEN) police station, Mangaluru, arrested four alleged drug peddlers and seized 51 g of MDMA synthetic narcotic drug worth ₹ 1.27 lakh on Thursday. The police gave names of the arrested persons as Devaraj Poojary, 38, of Udyavara; Jeevan Ameen, 32, of Palemar; Imran, 40, of Moodushedde; and B. Mohammed Haneef, 56, of Dambel. In a statement, Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said Devaraj Poojary was involved in peddling narcotic drugs in Mangaluru city, Udupi, and Shivamogga. Ameen and Haneef were involved in peddling drugs in Mangaluru City. Mr. Reddy said information about drug peddling given by people to the police by scanning 'QR Codes' pasted in schools and colleges played prominent role in catching the three peddlers. Calling upon people to continue giving information by scanning 'QR code', Mr. Reddy said police will act on all information that is given.

MDMA seized in M,luru, 4 held
Mangaluru: Mangaluru CEN crime police arrested four persons on Thursday and seized 51g of MDMA worth Rs 1.3 lakh. The accused are Devaraj Poojary alias Devu,38, from Udyavara village; Jeevan Amin,32, from Kaup in Udupi; Imran,40, from Moodushedde Post; and B Mohammed Hanif,56, from Dambel in Mangaluru. City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said that based on information received at the CEN police station, a raid was conducted near Padpu House in Padukodi village near Bangrakuluru, where the accused were allegedly preparing to sell narcotic substances. During the raid, police seized 51g of MDMA, seven mobile phones, two cars, Rs 11,990 in cash, and other property. The estimated value of one gram of MDMA is approximately Rs 2,500. Investigations revealed that Devaraj Poojary was involved in peddling MDMA in Udupi, Shivamogga, and Mangaluru city. The other three accused were also found to be engaged in MDMA peddling in Mangaluru city. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were packing MDMA into small packets and selling it to the public. An investigation is ongoing. The detection of this case was carried out under the guidance of senior officials of Mangaluru city, with the participation of officers and staff from the Mangaluru City CEN crime police station.
