Who Is Devdatta Majhi? JEE Advanced Female Topper From West Bengal Board Secured AIR 16

Last Updated: JEE Advanced Results 2025: Devdatta Majhi has secured the top rank in the girls' category and an overall rank of 16. She also scored full marks in JEE Main session 2. Many students from Hindi-medium backgrounds often face language-related challenges in exams like JEE, NEET, and UPSC. However, Devdatta Majhi from West Bengal has proved otherwise. The youngster from Katwa in West Bengal has topped the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025, despite attending a Bengali-medium school. She has secured the top rank in the girls' category and an overall rank of 16. She scored 312 out of 360 marks in the IIT entrance exam. Devdatta also excelled in the JEE Main 2025 exam, participating in both sessions. She achieved an All India Rank (AIR) of 15 in the January session of JEE Main. Later, she gained significant attention by scoring a perfect 300 out of 300 in the second session of JEE Main. Hailing from the village of Jambad in the Adasha block of the Purulia district in West Bengal, Devdatta has consistently been a top performer throughout her academic journey, even during her school days. She attended Durgadasi Choudhary Girls High School in Katwa. She achieved an impressive 697 out of 700 marks in the Madhyamik examination of 2023, which is 99.57 per cent, thereby securing the first rank. Her father, Jayant Majhi, is a Physics professor at BB College in Asansol, and her mother, Seli Devi, teaches at Durgadasi Choudhrani Girls High School in Katwa. She studied up to class 5 at a school in her village Jambad. Following her parents' job transfers, the family moved to Katwa. According to family sources, Devdatta aspires to study Mathematics at IISC Bangalore and later pursue Astrophysics research at ISRO. JEE Advanced 2025 results today, June 2. As per the results, the top 15 ranks have been secured by male candidates. Rajit Gupta from the IIT Delhi zone has secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 with a score of 332 out of 360. A total of 1,80,422 candidates appeared for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of which 54,378 qualified, including 9,404 female candidates. First Published: June 02, 2025, 19:18 IST
