Mohit Raina To Return As 'Mahadev' Lord Shiva In Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana?

Nitesh Tiwari is pulling off the biggest casting coup for his upcoming film, Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor. The film already has a stellar star cast with big names like Yash, Sai Pallavi and Sunny Deol. Now, recent reports claim that Mohit Raina will reprise his role as Mahadev Shiva in the film. Mohit Raina is best known for playing Lord Shiva on television for several years. As per portals like India Forums, Mohit Raina is currently in talks to play Lord Shiva in Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana. Reportedly, their negotiation is in advanced stages. However, it is important to note that there is no confirmation on this yet. Mohit Raina's portrayal of Lord Shiva in the television series Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev (2011–2014) remains one of the most iconic performances in Indian television history. His calm yet powerful presence, dignified demeanour, and strong screen presence brought depth and authenticity to the role of Mahadev. Meanwhile, Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana already stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. While Yash plays the antagonist, Raavan, Sunny Deol will reportedly be seen as Lord Hanuman. The film will also feature Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara. Ravi Dubey will be seen as Lakshman, and Arun Govil will play King Dasharatha. Kunal Kapoor, who will play Lord Indra in the film, exclusively told News18 Showsha earlier, 'This is a very important film in our cultural history. It's a really important part of our cultural ethos. I think it's important that you have filmmakers and people to give it the kind of scale it needs. This is mounted at a scale that we've never seen before." He explained, 'It is going to be something very special that deserves the kind of movie that the story should have. I am very excited about it. I think the audience is going to be surprised by what they see." As for the film's release, Ranbir Kapoor and Nitesh Tiwari have locked Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027 for Ramayana Part 1 and Ramayana Part 2, respectively.
