Miri man fined RM1,500 for abusing meth, amphetamine six years ago

MIRI (June 12): A 29-year-old man was fined RM1,500 in default one month in prison after he pleaded guilty in the Magistrates' Court here today to abusing illicit drugs in 2019.
Dexter Timban Suning from Kampung Tunku Abdul Rahman, Lambir entered the plea after the charge under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 15(1) of the same Act, was read to him.
The Section provides for a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or up to two years' imprisonment upon conviction.
Magistrate Ashok Linggam also ordered the accused to undergo two years of supervision by the authorities.
According to the case facts, Dexter was tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine at the Miri Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division office at around 7.30pm on Aug 1, 2019.
Prosecuting was Insp Mudzilawati Abdul Rahman, while the accused did not have legal representation.
