General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat allocates Dh140m for maintenance of mosques in Abu Dhabi
4 June 2025 15:38 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat (Awqaf) has approved an allocation of Dh140 million for the maintenance and cleaning of all mosques across the emirate of Abu Dhabi, in line with the standards and regulations adopted in the step forms part of Awqaf's strategy to manage mosque affairs nationwide and enhance their services by equipping them with the latest facilities that enable worshippers to perform their prayers in comfort and of the General Authority for Awqaf, His Excellency Dr Omar Habtoor Al Darei, affirmed that Awqaf places the care of mosques, attention to their needs, and the provision of their requirements at the forefront of its priorities, ensuring they fulfil their role in society in a distinguished and civilised manner, as hubs of educational and cultural enlightenment, and as platforms for communication, harmony, and tolerance among all segments of the Excellency also noted that Awqaf adopts a policy for the development of mosque services, with a focus on ensuring their sustainability, quality, and alignment with the latest systems that promote resource efficiency and environmental conservation. This is achieved in collaboration with partners and relevant entities across the praised the continued support extended to Awqaf and to the houses of worship by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and the wise leadership. Additionally, he expressed appreciation for the generous contributions of benefactors who dedicate their endowments in pursuit of lasting reward and blessings.

Dubai Inaugurates 16 New Mosques as Part of Dh140 Million Drive to Expand Worship Spaces
Dubai has opened 16 new mosques across the emirate in the first quarter of 2025, with a total investment of Dh140 million. These new places of worship can collectively accommodate up to 15,000 worshippers, marking a major step forward in the emirate's ongoing efforts to support religious infrastructure in line with population growth and urban development. The initiative is part of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department's (IACAD) strategic plan to foster charitable and development projects, while also ensuring worshippers have access to a suitable and welcoming environment. As part of its future-focused approach, IACAD has allocated 21 new land plots across 15 areas of Dubai for mosque development. These include plans for 11 traditional mosques and 10 designated prayer-time mosques, in collaboration with relevant government entities. The move is designed to keep pace with Dubai's urban expansion and address the needs of emerging residential communities. Dubai: 16 new mosques opened in 2025, costing Dh140 million
Dubai inaugurated 16 new mosques across the emirate during the first quarter of 2025, at a cost of Dh140 million. The new mosques can accommodate 15,000 worshippers.
