Dubai: Vox Cinemas to reopen Mall of the Emirates IMAX theatre on April 10

After four months of being temporary closed, Vox Cinemas has confirmed that its IMAX location at Mall of the Emirates will reopen to the public next month. 'As part of our commitment to revolutionising the movie-going experience... we closed our IMAX location in December 2024 to make way for something extraordinary," said Ashleigh Potts, VP of Sales & Marketing. The 'reimagined', state-of-the-art IMAX cinema is expected to open on April 10 and visitors can expect an immersive cinematic experience, with "crystal-clear visuals, next-generation sound, and cutting-edge technology to raise the bar for every movie" watched. In the interim, Ashleigh confirmed moviegoers can still enjoy blockbusters IMAX-style at their other locations, such as City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Festival City, and Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi. IMAX theatres differ from standard theatres primarily through their larger, curved screens and advanced projection systems. Ticket prices range from Dh60 to Dh80, while standard theatre tickets cost about Dh46.

Dubai: 4 patients saved through successful organ transplant

Four patients got a new lease of life after the timely intervention of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services teams. The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services teams successfully carried out a unique transplant operation to transport donated organs, saving the lives of four patients and stabilising their health conditions. The operation was carried out with medical support from the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and in cooperation with several government and health authorities across the country. The ambulance teams safely and efficiently transported the organs to three hospitals in the country. The National Centre for Regulating Organ and Tissue Transplantation at the Ministry of Health and Prevention managed the logistical operations, while the Dubai Health Authority provided the necessary medical support. The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services carried out the rapid transport using a helicopter, while the Dubai Police played a pivotal role in securing the transport process, ensuring the timely arrival of the organs according to the highest medical standards. More than 200 organ transplants Meanwhile, more than 200 organ transplants, with the support of many families, were conducted with the National Centre for Regulating Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues and its national programme 'Hayat.' Over 65 families made the decision to donate organs to save the lives of others. Dubai Health's Rashid Hospital, recognised for its specialised trauma and emergency care services, has emerged as the leading organ donation centre in the UAE, facilitating over 200 transplants. To further support these vital decisions in Rashid Hospital, Dubai Health opened a dedicated Hayat lounge. This compassionate space provides families with a private and comforting setting to discuss organ donation with healthcare professionals. Additionally, Dubai Health offers specialised care for organ failure patients, particularly kidney transplant surgery and dialysis services at Dubai Hospital, Al Jalila Children's Hospital, Al Towar and Al Barsha Dialysis Centers. 160 kidney transplants since 2016 Since 2016, Dubai Health surgeons have performed over 160 kidney transplants, with 54 of these surgeries conducted for children. Al Jalila Foundation launched the second edition of its kidney transplantation fundraising campaign, Your Donation Saves Lives. The 2024 campaign successfully raised over Dh46 million to support more than 65 kidney failure patients with life-saving surgeries, dialysis, and post-transplantation care. The first edition of the campaign, launched in 2021, managed to fund approximately 30 percent of all kidney transplants in Dubai.
