Pankhuri Awasthy on returning to TV with Dhakkad Beera: Acting is the missing piece in my life

Pankhuri Awasthi Rode Two years after Maddam Sir , Pankhuri Awasthy Rode is set to return to television with Yash Patnaik's Dhakkad Beera, in which she will be seen in a powerful cameo. The actress, who welcomed twins — a boy and a girl — in July 2023, says she's gradually easing back into work. She says, 'I'm just taking baby steps toward returning. A short-term character felt like the right place to start, especially to gauge how well I can balance everything. But I wouldn't have taken it up if the role wasn't strong and performance-driven.' She admits dealing with 'mom guilt' has been one of the toughest parts of resuming work. She shares, 'It's something I go through all the time. As exciting as it is to get back, my kids are always at the centre of every decision. I'm constantly torn between motherhood and acting. But I believe it's about good management. Modern mothers are the busiest and most anxious because we want to do it all.' She adds, 'Initially, I thought of taking my kids with me for the outdoor schedule in Patiala, but I knew managing them along with shooting would be overwhelming. So, I flew my mother in from Lucknow and had my mother-in-law step in too. I have a strong support system, and with two kids, you really need that army. It did hurt to leave them behind, but being back on set made me feel like myself again.' Pankhuri with her husband, actor Gautam Rode, and their twins Pankhuri credits husband, actor Gautam Rode , for helping her find balance. She says, 'What is marriage if not about leaning on each other? While we talk about independence, the idea of marriage is to have someone to fall back on. Gautam understands my passion for acting. We've talked about whether I should take a longer break, but he knows I can't. He's a 10/10 partner.' Now open to a full-fledged role, she says, 'Acting is the missing piece of the puzzle in my life. I've started to miss it deeply. Yes, I'm nervous about leaving the kids behind, but I'm not the first working mother . If push comes to shove, I'll figure out a way — they'll either be with me or I'll have my support system look after them.'
