Saha seeks Shah intervention to resolve problems faced by Brus

Agartala: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha on Monday said he has written to Union home minister Amit Shah , seeking his intervention to resolve several problems being faced by members of the Bru community in the state. Addressing a gathering during the district-level mega campaign under the Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan at Jirania sub-division in West Tripura, Saha said, "I recently met with people from the Bru community and learned about the challenges they are still facing. Accordingly, I have written to the home minister to ensure their issues are addressed at the earliest." The chief minister accused the previous Left govt of neglecting the Bru Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and emphasised the BJP-led govt's continued efforts since 2018 to improve their condition. Saha underlined the importance of inclusive development, saying, "Unless we uplift the backward communities, the country cannot progress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working tirelessly for the welfare of Janajati communities since 2014." He added that India today takes pride in its inclusive leadership, mentioning that the President of India hails from a Janajati background, and that the governor of Telangana is also from a Janajati community and belongs to Tripura's royal family. "These developments have been made possible due to Prime Minister Modi's commitment to empowering indigenous communities. What he promises, he delivers," Saha said.

Tribal identity meets governance: Dharti Aaba outreach touches lives in Balod

Balod, Chhattisgarh: Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan has evolved beyond a government initiative to become a symbol of tribal pride and identity, said Lok Sabha MP Bhojraj Nag during a special outreach camp organised in the tribal village of Bhanwarmara in Chhattisgarh's Balod district. Speaking at the event, MP Bhojraj Nag emphasised the emotional and cultural significance of the campaign: 'Dharti Aaba is not just a scheme now. It is the voice of the tribal community and a reflection of their self-respect. It brings dignity and pride in the name of Birsa Munda, who remains an icon of tribal resistance and leadership.' The special camp was part of the Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan, which is being conducted from June 15 to July 15 across 186 tribal villages in Balod. It provided multiple services to villagers under one roof, including Ayushman health cards, Kisan Samman Nidhi, labour registration, forest rights pattas, Kisan Credit Cards, and basic healthcare. In a symbolic gesture, the MP also performed the Godbharai ceremony for pregnant women and distributed seeds to farmers, encouraging them to take advantage of the government's agricultural support programs. Divya Umesh Mishra, Collector of Balod, explained the comprehensive nature of the campaign: 'These camps are not just about service delivery; they represent the real spirit of public participation. We are ensuring that representatives and administrative officers come together to take government schemes directly to every village.' She further added: 'In addition to schemes like Ayushman and forest rights, we are providing health checkups, anaemia and sickle cell testing, Aadhaar and ration card services, pension enrolments, and more — all under one roof.' Sarpanch Nirmala Thakur of Bhanwarmara Gram Panchayat, who was also present at the event, expressed her appreciation for the initiative: 'This campaign is empowering our community. People are not only saving time and money, but also feeling more connected to the administration, with all services reaching us directly at the village level.' The camp was attended by people showing huge enthusiasm. Elected representatives and administrative staff, showcasing the collaborative effort behind this innovative outreach model, also attended the event. The success of the Dharti Aaba campaign is being seen as a replicable model of governance rooted in inclusivity and tribal empowerment.

Govt identifies 25 tribal villages for holistic development by 2029

Panaji: As part of the Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan, Goa govt has identified 25 tribal villages where it aims to provide all the basic amenities, including telecom network connections. Govt has involved 17-18 departments to ensure that these 25 villages receive all the amenities in the next five years by 2029. This also includes education, sports, and doorstep delivery of govt services. 'We will assist landless farmers in obtaining their krishi cards and help them avail themselves of the benefits of govt schemes. Additionally, we will ensure the prompt resolution of forest right claims cases related to the scheduled tribe community,' said social welfare minister Subhash Phal Dessai. These villages should get all facilities, including electricity, water, road connectivity, and other basic amenities. The Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan rollout is scheduled for July 3 at the Sanguem municipal hall. 'This scheme is for the holistic development of the tribal communities. These villages had to have at least 50% of tribal community members and at least 500 villagers,' said Phal Dessai. 'In Goa, we have a total of 25 villages that fit this criteria.'
