Iraq's oil output rebounds with new developments in southern fields
Baghdad ( – Iraq's oil production is gaining pace for expansion with increasing national efforts to raise the capacity of oil fields in the southern part of the country, most notably Nasiriyah and Saba in Dhi Qar province. Intense efforts are being made to increase the two oil fields' production to 120,000 barrels per day in support of the national economy. Director of the state-owned Dhi Qar Oil Company (DQOC) Saeed Shalaka said in a statement on Saturday that work is progressing at a rapid pace in fields included in national development initiatives, notably the Nasiriyah field, one of the largest in southern Iraq. Shalaka mentioned earlier that seven additional oil wells were linked at the Nasiriyah oil field, resulting in an increase in output from 52,000 to 70,000 barrels per day. The Iraqi official clarified that eight oil wells have been connected at the Saba oil field, in addition to the installation of a new isolation system, increasing production capacity from 8,500 to 30,000 barrels per day. The Nasiriyah and Saba fields are significant due to their strategic location and large reserves. Additionally, there is potential for development to enhance associated gas recovery, which could help reduce dependence on imported gas and support energy security objectives. Despite impressive success in raising oil production in Iraq, hurdles continue, owing to ongoing financial pressures, a harsh operating environment, and logistical infrastructure issues, particularly in the southern part of the country. Iraq increases oil output at three fields
Baghdad ( – The state-owned Dhi Qar Oil Company (DQOC) announced on Friday the implementation of an integrated production plan to develop three oil fields in the southern Iraqi province. In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), DQOC's director Saeed Shalaka explained that the three strategic oil fields are Nasiriyah, Saba, and Gharraf. Seven additional oil wells were linked at the Nasiriyah oil field, resulting in an increase in output from 52,000 to 70,000 barrels per day, according to Shalaka. The Iraqi official clarified that eight oil wells have been connected at the Saba oil field, in addition to the installation of a new isolation system, increasing production capacity from 8,500 to 30,000 barrels per day. The Gharraf oil field is currently producing approximately 180,000 barrels per day, according to Shalaka. In terms of associated gas recovery, Shalaka stated that the first phase of natural gas utilization at the Gharraf oil field has been completed, with a capacity of 37 million standard cubic feet per day out of a total of 140 million cubic feet per day. Shalaka added that the associated gas currently being recovered at the Nasiriyah field averages between 20 and 22 million cubic feet per day, with a goal of reaching 30 million cubic feet per day in 2025.
