Diablo and Berserk join forces in a shocking new crossover

Diablo and Berserk join forces in a shocking new crossover In an unexpected but exciting move, Blizzard Entertainment has teamed up with the legendary manga Berserk for a brand-new crossover event. The collaboration brings the dark and intense world of Kentaro Miura's manga into both Diablo Immortal and Diablo IV, two popular games from the Diablo franchise. This is the first time Blizzard has ever worked with a non-Blizzard IP, making this partnership a big deal for both fans of video games and manga. For those unfamiliar, Berserk is a brutal dark fantasy series that follows the story of Guts, a warrior with a tragic past, fighting demons and betrayal in a cursed world. The manga is known for its deep storytelling, stunning art, and emotional weight. Now, players will get the chance to experience this world in-game with special cosmetics, bosses, and gameplay inspired by Berserk. The crossover event is split across two games: Diablo Immortal's event 'Struggler's Path' runs from May 1 to May 30 Diablo IV's event begins on May 6 and will run until the end of Season 8 Berserk x Diablo IV Diablo IV x Berserk | Animated Trailer In Diablo IV, players can become the Black Swordsman himself. Starting May 6, slaying powerful enemies may drop Behelits — strange, egg-like items from Berserk lore that can be traded for exclusive rewards. These include legendary items like the Brand of Sacrifice, Skull Knight's Mount Armour, and the Hawk's Destiny back trophy, inspired by the fallen warrior Griffith. Once you collect all Berserk-themed rewards, you'll unlock the Od of the Berserker Emblem, a badge that symbolises strength, sacrifice, and survival — themes central to both Diablo and Berserk. There's also a new in-game shop collection, where players can buy iconic armours: The Berserker Armour for the Barbarian class The Skull Knight set for Necromancer The Hawk of Light and The Struggler for Rogues And a cute (but creepy) Schnoz Pet Bundle, featuring a mysterious creature from Berserk's astral world Players can also ride into battle with the Warhorse of the Hawk, complete with themed mount trophies linked to the Band of the Hawk and the evil Godhand. Berserk x Diablo Immortal Diablo Immortal x Berserk | Struggler's Path | Cinematic Trailer In Diablo Immortal, the 'Struggler's Path' event lets players fight Nosferatu Zodd, a powerful, immortal warrior from Berserk. There's a special mode called Struggler's Bane, which takes players into the Eclipse — a horrifying moment from the manga when the Band of the Hawk is betrayed and sacrificed. New Legendary Gems like the Crimson Behelit add powerful effects during battle, and players can also unlock Berserk-inspired weapon skins, Golem familiars, and armour sets for Guts and Griffith. Just logging into the game during the event will reward players with free items like the Struggler's Path weapon skin, Eclipse portal cosmetics, and Legendary Crests. How to watch Bethesda reveal the Oblivion remake

Barring a completely shocking turn of events, it seems that Microsoft and Bethesda are about to formally unveil the long-rumored remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. The publisher will hold a livestream on Tuesday, April 21 at 11AM ET. You can watch it on YouTube or right here by clicking the play button on the above video when the time is right. Bethesda hasn't explicitly said what the stream is about. The YouTube video is currently titled "All will be revealed..." But the teaser image is a dead giveaway, considering the "IV" logo and the face shield that it depicts. The logo doesn't match the Diablo IV font either. So, yes, this is almost certainly the Oblivion remake that's said to have been in the works for years. Screenshots from the game were recently spotted on developer Virtuos' website. Reports suggest that Bethesda will release the remake on PC, Xbox Series X/S (including on Game Pass) and PS5 this week, so Elder Scrolls fans might want to start making space on their system storage now. I wonder if they'll do a Skyrim remake next.

Diablo IV's New Roadmap: Belial, Boss Powers, and Big Anniversary Plans

As the Age of Hatred wears on, Wanderers should be wary of new demonic terror coming to Sanctuary in 2025, as Belial's return is imminent in Diablo IV. Wanderers started the year with Diablo IV's Season of Witchcraft, and Blizzard has deployed a steep list of patch notes that launched on March 4 (like every season before it) after the season has been active for months. Since the launch of the Spiritborn class, the dev team has been working to balance the class appropriately for adventures in Sanctuary, releasing notable Quality of Life improvements every month. Now that it is April, Blizzard Entertainment has provided a new roadmap detailing the future of Sanctuary and what Wanderers will have to confront over the remaining second year of Diablo IV. Since Diablo IV launched nearly two years ago, the state of the game looks wildly different from its June 2023 release. Now, there's a new Vessel of Hatred expansion for fans to test their mettle against, Uber bosses populate Sanctuary, and each season so far has introduced a new gameplay element — for better or worse — to provide fresh experiences for players globally. With the new roadmap, fans can plot out the next few months, as Blizzard has detailed the upcoming seasons arriving in Sanctuary. After the Season of Witchcraft concludes on April 29 (moved up from the previous date of April 15), fans will be treated to the Season of Belial's Return, allowing Wanderers to face off against the Lord of Lies. That's not all — the seasonal story also centres on Belial's return, bringing more boss-focused content and challenges. For the first time since the game's launch, Diablo IV is forgoing the mid-season patch in favour of a major update at the season's start, allowing fans to rely on consistency from April to June. Along with the new season, fans will gain access to the seasonal gameplay element of Boss Powers, allowing Wanderers to deploy powerful boss abilities against enemies. Specific foes — including world bosses, new event bosses, Lair bosses and even Uber Lilith — enable players to collect their powers and turn them against the tides of Hell. There are 24 unique Boss Powers available, each with a Main Power and a Modifier Power, opening a new realm of build possibilities. Belial's Return starts on April 29. Beyond that, new IP collaborations and a two-year anniversary celebration await Wanderers in Sanctuary. Fans can find all the new seasonal information on Blizzard's official website.

Assassin's Creed makers fire back at Elon Musk by mocking his alleged cheating at online video games

When Elon Musk dissed the latest Assassin's Creed video game this week, its makers fired back in surprising fashion: by mocking his alleged habit of cheating at online games. For months, the gaming community has been abuzz over claims that the world's richest person has been paying other people to play online games for him and then bragging publicly about his skill ranking — a practice he appeared to admit in January. So you'd be forgiven for thinking that Musk was on thin ice as he slammed left-wing video game streamer Hasan Piker as a "fraud" and a "sell-out" for promoting the just-released Assassin's Creed Shadows. "Objectively, he is promoting a terrible game just for the money," said the Tesla tycoon, Trump ally, and avid video gamer on his social network X on Tuesday. Then the samurai-themed game's corporate PR account moved in for the kill. "Is that what the guy playing your Path of Exile 2 account told you?" As of Wednesday evening, that rhetorical blade-slash had won around 70,000 retweets and 648,000 likes compared to 977 and 32,000 on Musk's original effort. Musk did not comment further, except to call Piker a "chickens*** r****d" for blocking him. Musk has not publicly commented on the claims about his video game habits, but private messages shared by YouTuber NikoWrex appear to show him admitting that he paid to have his virtual characters 'boosted' by professional players in Path of Exile 2 and Diablo IV. He reportedly insisted that he had never intended to take sole credit for the resulting achievements, and refused to apologize: "What would I be apologizing for?" Shadows, an action roleplaying game set in 16th-century Japan and created by the French gaming giant Ubisoft, has been mostly praised by critics, with an 82 per cent rating on the review aggregation site Metacritic. But for nearly a year the game and its creators have been inundated by anti-"woke" culture warriors — boosted by Musk himself — who objected to Ubisoft's choice for one of the game's two protagonists: not a Japanese man but a real-life Black samurai named Yasuke. The actual Yasuke was an east African man who came to Japan in 1579 as a bodyguard for a Jesuit mission, during a time of tumultuous civil conflict, and ended up as a soldier in the entourage of the notorious warlord Oda Nobunaga. While there is some ambiguity about his exact rank, and the details of his life are scarcely documented, historians believe he would have been seen by his contemporaries as a samurai (which was in any case a fluid category in that era). In the game he serves alongside a fictional female ninja named Naoe — who is from Japan — as one of two playable protagonists, caught up in a centuries-long war between all-powerful secret societies over control of hyper-advanced technology created by an ancient pre-human species. That part, to be clear, is not historically accurate. Initially the game's makers tried to ride out the storm non-confrontationally, and were sometimes criticized for failing to stand up to racism, but in recent months they have increasingly chosen the path of the warrior. The Independent has asked Elon Musk for comment.

Elon Musk uses a $1,799 curved gaming monitor in his DOGE office

Elon Musk shared a photo of his DOGE office on Friday. On his desk is a $1,799 curved ultra-wide Samsung gaming monitor attached to a gaming PC. Popular with gamers, ultra-wide screens also have tons of screen real estate to help with multitasking. Elon Musk's DOGE office desk is leaning into his gamer aesthetic. The Tesla CEO shared a photo of his office at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on Friday, revealing a massive curved computer screen that many gamers would instantly recognize. The screen is a $1,799 Samsung G9 model, which sports a wraparound OLED curved display. You can usually find it on sale — a quick search shows some retailers selling it for around $1,100. We'll spare you all the nitty gritty specs, but suffice it to say it's about as gamery as computer screens get, with the supersized screen designed to fill more of your field of view so you feel more immersed in virtual worlds. And while the attached gaming PC visible below his desk all but guarantees Musk uses the setup to play some of his favorite video games, such as "Diablo IV," an "ultra-wide" screen like Musk's is also genuinely useful for productivity too. When working, all that extra screen real estate allows you to set up multiple side-by-side windows, so Musk could theoretically have a full-size web browser open next to his X news feed next to a workplace communication app like Slack. However, the most eye-catching thing in Musk's DOGE office pic may be a framed image of the internet meme character "Kekius Maximus," which Musk changed his X profile name to for a time in December. "My @DOGE office with the late great Kekius Maximus on the wall," Musk wrote on Friday. The meme is a variation of the internet character Pepe the Frog, popular in some online communities as well as some in the far-right. The Pepe the Frog meme is now considered by the Anti-Defamation League to be a hate symbol, though the organization has said that "the mere fact of posting a Pepe meme does not mean that someone is racist or white supremacist." "The majority of uses of Pepe the Frog have been, and continue to be, non-bigoted," the Anti-Defamation League wrote. "However, it was inevitable that, as the meme proliferated in online venues such as 4chan, 8chan, and Reddit, which have many users who delight in creating racist memes and imagery, a subset of Pepe memes would come into existence that centered on racist, antisemitic or other bigoted themes." "In recent years, with the growth of the 'alt right' segment of the white supremacist movement, a segment that draws some of its support from some of the above-mentioned internet sites, the number of 'alt right' Pepe memes has grown, a tendency exacerbated by the controversial and contentious 2016 presidential election," the ADL added. Musk, who frequently posts internet memes to his X account, has previously posted memes containing Pepe the Frog. Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the image from Business Insider. Other decorations in Musk's office include a "DOGE" desk plaque and a "Make America Great Again" hat.
