Union minister Sonowal launches ‘Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: Union minister of ports, shipping and waterways on Wednesday launched the 'Har Ghar Tiranga (Tricolour in Every Home)' campaign in Dibrugarh, marking the beginning of celebrations for 79th Independence Day, reports Rajib Dutta. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The senior BJP leader, who represents the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency, personally visited the homes of prominent local figures to distribute national flags and encourage participation in the patriotic initiative. His visits included the residences of former BJP Dibrugarh district president and retired Dibrugarh University professor Harendra Narayan Dutta, celebrated folk artist Ramchandra Sasoni, and senior advocate Ashim Dutta, who founded the local RSS unit. "The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative is a tribute to our freedom fighters and a celebration of our unity. I urge every citizen to proudly display the national flag at their homes," Sonowal said. He also distributed flags to students, emphasising the importance of patriotism among the youth. "Our youth are the torchbearers of our nation's future. When they hold the tricolour with pride, they carry forward the legacy of our freedom fighters," he said. The day's activities began with Sonowal paying tribute at the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the Netaji Park in Santipara, Dibrugarh, honouring the freedom fighter's contribution to India's independence struggle. The campaign launch saw participation from several local dignitaries, including BJP Dibrugarh district president Dulal Bora, Assam Tourism Development Corporation chairman Rituparna Baruah, mayor Saikat Patra, and other party officials. The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative, part of the broader Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, aims to promote patriotic fervour by encouraging citizens to display the national flag at their homes during the Independence Day period.
