Report: Xhaka unsettled at Bayer Leverkusen?
Swiss news source Blicksport are reporting that well-informed members of the club are expecting Granit Xhaka to depart Bayer Leverkusen. While it may not be during this window, the Swiss international is supposedly keen to move on despite his contract running until 2028. Advertisement Die Werkself are also believed to be holding discussions with regards to the conditions of a possible transfer. Apparently there are several clubs internationally that are interested in the midfielder's services. One club that is definitely not in the running is FC Basel, for whom Xhaka made 42 appearances for between 2010-12.

German defender Jonathan Tah made the switch to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich from Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer on Wednesday. Tah, the 29-year-old stopper back, who joined Leverkusen from Hamburger SV in 2015, went on to make over 290 appearances for the Die Werkself also clinching the Bundesliga title in the 2023/24 season unbeaten. Bayer Leverkusen have taken initial steps to sign Stade Rennais' Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to L'Équipe However, no official offer has been made yet by Die Werkself for the French attacker. It's is believed that Premier League side Newcastle United are also interested in his services. The Magpies are reportedly ready to pay a substantial fee for the 23-year-old striker. Kalimuendo has netted 17 goals and provided 4 assists across 33 games in the French top-flight this campaign.

Frimpong "on the verge" of Liverpool move
Speculation has been mounting recently linking Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong with a move to Liverpool, as the Reds search for a replacement for the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold. Now, Kicker reports that the 24-year-old will 'almost certainly' leave Die Werkself and is 'on the verge' of a move to Anfield. According to the German outlet, 'if anything,' only the 'final details remain to be sorted out' before the transfer is finalized. Leverkusen are powerless to stop the move, as Frimpong has a release clause reportedly set between €35 and €40 million. The Dutch wing-back could become the latest high-profile departure from the BayArena, following head coach Xabi Alonso and centre-back Jonathan Tah. Alonso is expected to take over at Real Madrid, while Tah is reportedly close to joining Bayern Munich. In addition, star playmaker Florian Wirtz is being heavily linked with a summer switch to Bayern. Frimpong has scored five goals and provided 12 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions this season. He joined Die Werkself from Celtic in January 2021 for a fee of €11 million.

Leverkusen ready to offload six players in the summer
Bayer Leverkusen are ready to offload six players in the summer transfer window, according to Sport Bild. The German publication claims that Aleix Garcia, Victor Boniface, Jonas Hofmann, Matej Kovar, Arthur and Odilon Kossounou are all free to leave. Garcia has struggled to hold down a starting berth since his €18 million move from Girona last summer and has repeatedly expressed his dissatisfaction with his playing time. Boniface, who almost left Leverkusen for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr in January, has been involved in several disciplinary cases this season and has slipped behind Patrik Schick in the pecking order. The report also claims that Schick doesn't want to stay at the club if Boniface stays, which is an extra incentive for Leverkusen to get rid of the Nigerian striker. Jonas Hofmann has struggled for game time this season, while Matej Kovar hasn't been able to convince that he should be the club's first-choice goalkeeper in the long term. Arthur has mostly been used as a substitute, and the arrival of Nordi Mukiele on loan from Paris Saint-Germain has further limited his opportunities. Odilon Kossounou is currently on loan at Atalanta, who could make the move permanent. The report also states that Die Werkself are ready to sell Florian Wirtz if he decides to turn down a contract extension beyond 2027. Jeremie Frimpong has been heavily linked with a move away from Leverkusen, with the club powerless if his €40 million release clause is met.
