Digital Connexion's Chennai data center facility gets Nvidia DGX-ready certification

NEW DELHI: Data center firm Digital Connexion on Tuesday said its MAA10 facility in Ambattur, Chennai, has been certified as an Nvidia Deep GPU Xceleration (DGX)-ready data centre. Digital Connexion is a joint venture between Brookfield Asset Management, Reliance Industries Limited, and Digital Realty. According to the American chipmaker's website, the DGX platform is built for enterprise AI and combines its software, hardware, and infrastructure in a unified development environment that spans from the cloud to on-premises data centres. 'This certification reflects the facility's advanced capabilities to support accelerated computing workloads required for AI training and GPU-intensive computing ,' Digital Connexion, which also provides colocation and interconnection solutions, said in a statement. 'The ability to process and manage data at scale is foundational to successful AI deployments. As AI adoption accelerates across India's key industries, so does the need for infrastructure that can overcome data gravity barriers and support increasingly intensive AI workloads,' said CR Srinivasan, CEO, Digital Connexion. 'Our certification as part of the NVIDIA DGX-Ready Data Center program strengthens MAA10's position as a purpose-built, high-performance environment engineered to aggregate, process, and manage large volumes of AI data, empowering enterprises to innovate at scale,' he added.

Digital Connexion, a provider of scalable data centre, colocation and interconnection solutions, on Thursday announced the appointment of CR Srinivasan as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Digital Connexion is a joint venture (JV) between Brookfield Asset Management, Reliance Industries Limited and Digital Realty. It is investing in over 140MW of AI-ready data centre capacity across Chennai and Mumbai in its first wave of investment to meet growing hyperscale and enterprise demand, according to a company release. Announcing Srinivasan's appointment, Digital Connexion said he brings over three decades of experience across the telecom, IT, cybersecurity, and digital services sectors. India has the second-largest number of active internet users globally, and with its domestic Artificial Intelligence (AI) market projected to more than triple to $17 billion by 2027 as per estimates, it is seen as one of the fastest-growing AI economies globally. With digitalisation at the centre stage, there is an opportunity for rapid adoption of technologies amid an increasing demand for digital infrastructure, Digital Connexion said, adding that it is well-placed to offer solutions that meet requirements as cloud service providers, hyperscalers, and enterprises expand their digital footprint. The company said Srinivasan has a track record of building and scaling high-growth businesses, including data centre, cloud, cybersecurity, and SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) services. Prior to Digital Connexion, he served as the CEO of Sify Digital Services and also led the Tata Communications' cloud and cybersecurity business unit.

NEW DELHI: Data center company Digital Connexion has appointed CR Srinivasan as its new chief executive officer (CEO) to lead business growth on the back of a surge in demand for digital infrastructure solutions. 'Under his leadership, Digital Connexion will continue to unlock new opportunities, foster innovation, and accelerate the platform's growth,' Digital Connexion said on Thursday. The Mumbai-headquartered company is a joint venture (JV) in India between Brookfield Asset Management (Brookfield), Reliance Industries Limited and Digital Realty. It is investing in over 140MW of AI-ready data center capacity across Chennai and Mumbai in its first wave of investment to meet growing hyperscale and enterprise demand. Srinivasan joins Digital Connexion from Sify Digital Services, where he served as its CEO. Prior to that, he led Tata Communications ' cloud and cybersecurity business unit, significantly scaling its business and cultivating high-performance teams. Citing third-party market estimates, the company stated that India has the second-largest number of active internet users globally, adding that its domestic Artificial Intelligence (AI) market is may more than triple to $17 billion by 2027. He has a Bachelor of Engineering, Electronics & Communication degree from Madras University.

India Doubles Down on AI with 75% of Businesses Localizing Data: Report

Data localization is growing in India as businesses balance local compliance with high-performance infrastructure. India is doubling down on artificial intelligence (AI) with 75 per cent of businesses aligning their data location strategy with AI to keep the data close to users, according to the latest findings from Global Data Insights Survey by one of Digital Connexion's parent companies Digital Realty. AI is becoming increasingly important for businesses in India, seeking to automate processes, drive innovation, and remain competitive. Organizations are actively preparing for an AI-driven future by integrating data as a critical enabler of their strategies. Indian businesses are shaping their AI journeys around three core priorities: data localization, sustainability, and structured data strategies. The survey reveals that 75 per cent of businesses are reshaping their infrastructure and site strategies with data at the helm. This underscores India's emergence as a digital hub in the Asia-Pacific region, where 59 per cent of companies already have a formal data strategy in place—well ahead of several global benchmarks. Data localization is growing in India as businesses balance local compliance with high-performance infrastructure. Companies are storing data closer to users and operations to ensure faster access and meet regional regulations. Sustainability is now a priority for businesses in India, involved in shaping their IT infrastructure. Companies are focusing on energy-efficient data centers and reducing consumption to meet environmental goals and strengthen their green credentials. 60 per cent state that sustainability goals are the most important factor impacting their AI strategy. 51 per cent of Indian businesses measure success in IT sustainability through green credentials, reflecting a commitment to sustainable practices. Key highlights from India: 44% believe AI and machine learning are essential to unlocking data's full potential. 75% are using data to inform infrastructure and location strategies—reshaping digital foundations. 60% say sustainability is the most critical factor shaping their AI strategy. 51% measure IT success through green credentials—underscoring a shift toward responsible tech adoption. 77% have embraced distributed data models to balance compliance and performance. However, challenges remain. Nearly 52 per cent of organizations report struggling to extract actionable insights due to fragmented data, and 51 per cent say insufficient investment in data systems is impeding progress toward AI maturity. As the AI era unfolds, India's digital transformation story is being written in data—structured, localized, sustainable, and strategically aligned. Sovereignty and data localisation are also driving a lot of the growth for data center providers in India. Riding that wave, L&T Cloudfiniti, the data center arm of Larsen & Toubro, plans to scale its data center capacity to 90 MW by the end of next year across three cities – Mhape and Panvel (Maharashtra), and Whitefield (Bengaluru). It has a current capacity of 30 MW across two data centers in Mumbai and Chennai. "Sovereignty and data localisation is driving the growth as sovereign hosting has now become extremely important for the country…We are an AI data center. That's our sweet spot. 80 per cent of our capacity is built to cater to AI," said Seema Ambastha, CEO of L&T Cloudfiniti.
