Man allegedly struck Halifax police vehicle following pursuit
A 22-year-old driver allegedly struck a Halifax police vehicle following a pursuit on Highway 102 over the weekend.
Officers spotted a vehicle with smoke and debris falling from it as it sped on Highway 102 around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, according to a news release from Halifax Regional Police. The vehicle, which had a blown out rear tire, did not stop as police activated their lights and sirens.
Police say the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a cop car, which had its emergency lights activated, at the Transom and Starboard drives intersection.
Officers surrounded the vehicle at the Larry Uteck Boulevard and Nine Mile roundabout. The male driver allegedly resisted arrest, but police took him into custody at 9:10 p.m.
Dimitri Robertson-Webb was charged with:
dangerous operation of a conveyance
flight from a peace officer – failure to stop motor vehicle while being pursued
resist arrest
possession of housebreaking tools
unlawful possession or sale of tobacco products
