After Attending The Met Gala, Sabrina Carpenter And Jenna Ortega's Afterparty Looks Have Everyone Obsessed

The 2025 Met Gala happened last night, with the theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," which draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller's 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The theme was also reflected in the dress code, "Tailored for You," which encouraged guests to interpret the concept of dandyism and tailoring in their outfits this year. Dimitrios Kambouris / Getty Images for The Met Museum / Vogue The Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibit that is tied to this year's Met Gala will organize "12 sections, each representing a characteristic that defines dandy style: Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook, Heritage, Beauty, Cool, and Cosmopolitanism," according to Vogue. There were so many great looks at this year's gala — from women rocking incredible suits to some of the men showing up in stellar outfits (and leaving the plain, back suits behind) to just some jaw-dropping red carpet moments, like Diana Ross's time on the famous Met Gala stairs, and more. Not only did people love their actual Met Gala outfits, but their afterparty looks were what everyone was really talking about. Jamie McCarthy / Getty Images She paired the metallic dress with Old Hollywood-inspired waves in her hair by hair stylist Cesar Deleon Ramirez, a deep burgundy lip color, smoky gray eyeshadow, a silver necklace from Grown Brilliance, and earrings and rings by Hearts On Fire. Dimitrios Kambouris / Getty Images for The Met Museum / Vogue Speaking of the pantsless look, she told Vogue on the red carpet, "[Pharrell] was like, 'You're quite short so no pants for you.' So here we are. Here we are." Met Gala Accessories That Made A Statement

Source: Getty Images / Getty When it comes to style, the difference between a good look and a legendary one often lies in the details. And that is never more prevalent than at fashion's SuperBowl, the Met Gala. Accessories have long been the secret sauce of Black fashion — a statement, a nod, a flex, and sometimes a sermon all on their own. From durags dipped in confidence to hats holding cultural weight (and baby bumps!), these are the accessories that didn't just complement the outfit — they completed the moment. Let's revisit the pieces that had us gasping, applauding, and screenshotting. Crowned in Silk: The Durag Reigns Supreme Source: Dimitrios Kambouris / Getty First and foremost, one thing about me: I love a durag. I was hoping someone would bring that sense of dandyism to the carpet and of course our Harlem Rose did with so much flair. This three-piece suit, a collaboration with Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter was more than just visually stunning; it incorporated significant hidden symbolic elements. According to Carter's interview with BET at the Met Gala, the striking suit, with its detailed embellishments, served as an tribute to Taylor's burlesque shows and the lasting influence of the dandy. The ensemble was completed with a velvet feathered hat, which was later removed to show a coordinating red durag, and custom Marc Jacobs Kiki boots. We didn't think we could love Teyana more because a Teyana and Ruth collab was not our Met Gala bingo card. Top That: A Hat Fit for Fashion Royalty Source: Dimitrios Kambouris / Getty Jodie Turner Smith's top hat offered an intricate silhouette that brought the merlot-hued look together like never before. And it really took a village to slay every detail. Celebrity makeup artist Sheika Daily created Jodie Turner-Smith's stunning MET Gala makeup look using Haus Labs by Lady Gaga, featuring the brand's newest blush balm extension shades and coveted complexion products! Daily told HB, 'Jodie embodied this year's theme of 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style' in custom Burberry. To compliment the texture and deep merlot, I created her makeup look using similar tones.' The makeup coupled with the hat, just really did it for us! Praise Be the Accessory: The Holy Grail of Cool Source: Kevin Mazur/MG25 / Getty The actress offered a heartfelt tribute to the iconic André Leon Talley, whose influence permeated the event. She carried a church fan adorned with his portrait. A poignant gesture acknowledging his enduring legacy and the profound sense of belonging he fostered within the fashion world. The event aligned with the debut of his instrumental piano album, '7 piano sketches.' In an Instagram post, he characterized the album as 'improvisations' and shared a sketch of himself wearing a variation of his Met Gala attire. This piano-focused album is a follow-up to a previous one centered entirely on the flute. The Hat Had Range: Mary J. Celebrity hairstylist Tym Wallace crafted Mary J. Blige's Met Gala look with a bespoke 40-inch 'Blondie Wig' from True Hair Co. Mother of Slay: Rih's Hat Trick of Maternity Chic Source: John Shearer / Getty Last but not least, Rihanna stole the show yet again with not one but two stunning accessories. The first being her newly announced baby bump, making the star a soon-to-be mother of three. Rihanna's dramatic headpiece was a seamless blend of opulence and her signature edge. This marked her triumphant return to the 2025 Met Gala alongside her partner and Gala Co-Chair, A$AP Rocky. This appearance delivered one of her most unforgettable Met moments as her face was shaded by an oversized custom Marc Jacobs x Stephen Jones hat. Cardi B Hit Back At Criticism Of Her 'Unrecognizable' And 'Alarming' Appearance After A Video Of Her Getting Ready For The Met Gala Sparked A Load Of Discourse

Earlier this week, Cardi B stepped out at the 2025 Met Gala in a gorgeous Burberry outfit made by designer Daniel Lee. Dimitrios Kambouris / Getty Images for The Met Museum/Vogue Sitting down with Vogue for a candid chat ahead of the Met, Cardi opened up about her look while she was getting ready. 'It's actually more intimidating now because I'm competing with myself,' she began. 'Everybody always expects so much from me. Especially here, because they know that this is my department, which, you know, is overwhelming, but I love it.' Dimitrios Kambouris / Getty Images for The Met Museum/Vogue 'It just makes me understand like I'm really a superstar. 'Cause only the superstars get invited,' she said. Going on to discuss what the theme of this year's Met — Superfine: Tailoring Black Style — meant to her, Cardi said, 'When I first found out that the Met Gala was dandyism, all I could think about is Harlem. You know, when you walk the streets of Harlem, you always have custom, like, stores that actually make custom, like, fits like this.' Vogue Magazine / Via Related: 28 Celebs Who Never Seem To Get Canceled Despite Some Pretty Awful Behavior 'I never really seen somebody but a pastor dress like that, dress real dandy, dress real colorful. Not even just colorful, just, have a little twist to it,' she continued. ''Cause you don't really have to have color. You could be dandy just wearing black. This is, like, suits but with seasoning on it.' Vogue Magazine / Via Several fans quickly praised Cardi's understanding of the theme — however, the video also got people talking for another reason. Unfortunately, a bunch of internet users wound up questioning — and critiquing — Cardi's appearance, suggesting that she seemed 'tired,' 'drunk,' or 'high' because she was 'slurring' some of her words. Vogue Magazine / Via Related: 15 Celebs Who Went From 'Wait, They Did WHAT?!' Normal Jobs To Massive Fame 'She looks so different,' one comment read. 'my girl look tired,' another said. 'what happened to her face,' one person questioned, while another user wrote, 'She is unrecognizable. It's alarming.' 'Is she high?' someone asked, while one more person said, 'There's something off.' Eventually, Cardi — who is mom to three young children — replied directly to one person who commented, 'Was she drunk ??? Lol.' Cardi wrote, 'no I was really really tired and drowsy.' Cardi has since been defended by several internet users who are reminding others that she's only human. 'Yall in these comments are just so programmed to see edits. It's scary anyone sees anything wrong with a natural raw video. She looks absolutely stunning,' one person said. 'She just sounds like an exhausted mom,' someone else wrote , while another fan said , 'Compared to other celebrities, she does seem very involved with her kids. The woman is tired as hell!'
