DRG jawan killed, three injured in IED blast in Bijapur
Raipur: A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was killed and three others injured in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh's Bastar division on Monday morning. The incident took place in the forests of Ulloor valley near Bhopalpattanam, when security personnel were engaged in an anti-Naxal operation in the Indravati National Park area. According to police officials, the team was marching on foot when one of the jawans accidentally stepped on a pressure-activated IED planted by Maoists. The explosion killed Dinesh Nag, 38, a DRG jawan, who succumbed to injuries during evacuation despite efforts by CRPF personnel. The three injured—Bharat Dheer, Payku Hemla, and Mundru Kawasi—were shifted to Bijapur district hospital and were stated to be out of danger. Following the blast, reinforcements were rushed to the site, and a combing operation has been launched in the area. Later in the day, a guard of honour was accorded to Dinesh Nag at Shaheed Vatika in Bijapur police lines by Bastar IG P Sundarraj and CRPF officials.
