Over 99.76 % of SSC answer scripts marked accurately, asserts Andhra Pradesh Directorate of Government Examinations
Amidst criticism of gross errors in evaluation of SSC public examinations answer scripts, the Directorate of Government Examinations has asserted that in total, over 99.76 % of all the answer scripts were marked accurately in the first round of evaluation, reflecting the overall strength and credibility of the evaluation process. In a statement, the department said out of the total 66,363 applications received (64,251 for reverification and 2,112 for recounting), 11,175 answer scripts recorded changes in marks based on the scrutiny. 'This means that 55,188 answer scripts were found to be correct as they were, without needing any changes. In total, this shows that over 99.76 % of all answer scripts were marked accurately in the first round of evaluation, reflecting the overall strength and credibility of the evaluation process,' it said. Out of the corrected cases, the statement said 8,863 scripts had minor changes of marks between 1 and 5 only, and 3,119 scripts had changes of more than 5 marks. 'The larger changes made up just 0.068% of all the answer scripts,' it said, adding that while such cases are very rare, the Directorate had acted with full responsibility to correct them and ensure accountability. Citing firm action against those responsible, the statement pointed out that five evaluators were suspended for not following proper procedure. Informing that the evaluation of the total 45,96,527 answer scripts of the SSC Public Examinations held in March 2025 had been completed, it said the process was carried out by 16,428 Assistant Examiners, 5,494 Special Assistants and 2,747 Chief Examiners. Over the past four years, the Directorate has evaluated between 44.5 lakh and 47.8 lakh answer scripts each year. The accuracy of the evaluation has been consistently high, with overall accuracy rates of 99.82 % in 2022, 99.76 % in 2023, 99.81 % in 2024 and 99.74 % in 2025. Informing that the Directorate had been providing PDF copies of evaluated answer scripts to all reverification applicants, it reiterated its commitment to ensuring that public examinations are conducted in a fair, accurate and transparent manner.
