‘Diriyah Horizon' Program Builds Conscious, Powerful Generation
The third edition of Diriyah Horizon youth summer program kicked off on Sunday, bringing various activities designed to develop youth skills and foster cultural values, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The program represents a significant collaboration between the Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) and several other entities, as follows: King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication Saudi Space Agency iLMI Science Discovery and Innovation Center Mahd Sports Academy 'Diriyah Horizon' Program By offering an engaging, interactive environment, the program seeks to boost the participants' skills and capabilities. The program also aims to make a real difference in the lives of the Saudi youth by shaping their way of thinking and supporting them in their academic and professional careers. Set to run until August 21, the program features various activities across six tracks focusing on Diriyah's heritage, as follows: The Leadership track: It boasts three workshops tackling debate skills, volunteerism, along with public speaking. The Heritage track: It explores archaeological excavation and traditional mudbrick construction techniques. The Creative Production: It features photography and filmmaking skills. The Science track: It includes multiple workshops on water systems, soil science, sustainable energy, as well as aircraft design. The Space track: It provides interactive workshops introducing astronomy and space tech from past to present, along with agricultural seasons in Diriyah. The Sports track: It focuses mainly on fencing and archery. 'Diriyah Horizon' Program Overall, the Diriyah Horizon strives to build a conscious and powerful Saudi generation that can leave a real impact on Shaping the Kingdom's cultural scene and safeguarding the authentic legacy of Diriyah. Diriyah Horizon program empowers creative youth
RIYADH: The third Diriyah Horizon youth summer program began on Sunday, organized by the Diriyah Gate Development Authority in partnership with several entities to build youth skills and promote cultural and national values. Collaborators include the King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication, Saudi Space Agency, iLMI Science Discovery and Innovation Center, and Mahd Sports Academy. The program offers hands-on learning experiences to enrich participants and boost educational outcomes, the Saudi Press Agency reported. It reflects the authority's commitment to education and social responsibility by providing a dynamic environment filled with diverse, skill-building activities. Running until Aug. 21, the program features six specialized tracks inspired by Diriyah's heritage and values, including 14 workshops. The leadership track covers debate, volunteerism and public speaking. The heritage track explores archeological excavation and traditional mudbrick construction. The creative production track focuses on photography and filmmaking. The science track includes water systems, soil science, sustainable energy and aircraft design. The space track offers interactive sessions on astronomy, space technology and Diriyah's agricultural seasons, while the sports track features fencing and archery. Held Sunday to Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the program aims to shape a conscious, capable generation rooted in Saudi identity. It fosters pride, cultural awareness, creativity, innovation and real-world problem-solving.

Saudi awarded projects total $9.6bln in 5 months
The value of awarded public contracts in Saudi Arabia totaled around 36 billion Saudi riyals ($9.6 billion) in the first five months of 2025, a Saudi report showed on Tuesday. April recorded the highest project value this year while May was the lowest, showed the report by the Saudi contractors authority (SCA). The value of awarded public projects stood at around SAR1.668 billion ($445 million) in May, far below the April value of around SAR13.3 billion ($3.7 billion). The report showed that in May, Saudi Arabia awarded 15 projects, including nine in construction and six in infrastructure Ten projects awarded in May are expected to be completed in 2027 while the rest are scheduled for 2026 and 2028. Key project owners last month include Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Misk Foundation, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, with a total value of around SAR487 million ($130 million), SCA said, adding that it expects 20 contracts to be awarded in June 2025. Diriyah Celebrates Eid Al-Adha with Vibrant Festivities
The Diriyah Gate Development Authority celebrated Eid Al-Adha with a wide range of joyful, educational and entertaining events, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The festivities started after the Eid prayers, with mosques celebrating the aroma of Saudi coffee and the essence of traditional hospitality. In the afternoon, the activities of the historic At-Turaif and Al-Dhuwaihra districts began. At At-Turaif, visitors wrote their names in Diriyah script, watched stunning horse shows and identified the most famous breeds of purebred Arabian horses. Meanwhile, Adhwaihrah offered various interesting festivities across several roads such as Dirab Road, Aba Al-Qad Road (known today as Al-Qiddiya Road), and Sabaa' Al-Malaf Road. Moreover, it lunched the 'Diriyah Taste' initiative at Dirab Road to highlight authentic local flavors through a vast array of traditional dishes. At Aba Al-Qad Road, visitors enjoyed interactive traditional games and toured a special exhibition highlighting the Hajj and caravan routes that traversed Diriyah. On Sabaa' Al-Malaf Road, visitors captured cherished memories, painted henna and attended Diriyah calligraphy workshops. Diriyah Named Among Global Eco-Friendly Destinations for 2025
The British travel platform Wanderlust has selected Diriyah as one of the Global Eco-Friendly Destinations for 2025, according to the Saudi Press Agency. This remarkable recognition was driven by the successful cooperation between the Saudi Tourism Authority and the Diriyah Gate Development Authority. Both entities have submitted a comprehensive nomination featuring Diriyah's extraordinary initiatives in environmental, cultural, and tourism sustainability. Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of the Saudi Tourism Authority Fahd Hamidaddin stated that this recognition reflects Saudi Arabia's dedication to ensuring sustainability in tourism. 'This recognition stands as a testament to our strategy of empowering local partners and showcasing national destinations in international markets,' Hamidaddin added. He also noted that this achievement further strengthens the Kingdom's position on the global tourism map as the fastest-growing destination in the world. 'This international recognition highlights Diriyah's role as the cradle of the Saudi state and our dedication to preserving its heritage while applying the highest environmental and cultural sustainability standards,' Chief Executive Officer of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority Jerry Inzerillo said. Promisingly, this selection represents a living proof of Saudi Arabia's growing global presence in tourism. In line with the Saudi Vision 2030, the Saudi Tourism Authority has been supporting its partners across the tourism ecosystem to meet ambitious national objectives. In 2024, the Kingdom welcomed nearly 116 million visitors, and the authorities are still making bold strides to reach the goal of hosting 150 million visitors by 2030.
