Punjab CM dedicates Rs 47 crore firefighting fleet to border dists
PUNJAB CHIEF Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday unveiled a fleet of modern fire and rescue apparatus worth Rs 47 crore, aimed at boosting emergency response in sensitive border districts.
Addressing the gathering, Mann emphasised the state government's preparedness and commitment to safeguarding border communities. 'To cater the needs of the border region, fire apparatus, including small and medium fire tenders and other essential machinery worth Rs 47 crore has been dedicated to the people of the state,' he said.
The newly inducted equipment includes Disaster Deployment Kits (DD Kits), Hydraulic Combi Tool Collapse Structure and Rescue Kits (CSSR Kits), Gas Detectors, Fire Entry Suits, Battery Backup Lighting Towers, Multipurpose Fire Tenders, and Quick Response Vehicles (Small).
The CM said, 'The apparatus will be deployed in strategically sensitive areas such as Pathankot, Rajasansi, Ferozepur, and other vulnerable zones. These will help tackle any sort of awkward situation arising at the border due to mounting tension between both countries.'
Underscoring the government's commitment, he said, 'The state government is duty-bound to ensure all requirements for the safety and security of border residents are fulfilled.'
The chief minister said the advanced equipment would play a crucial role in relief and rescue operations during emergencies. 'The state government is fully prepared to tackle any sort of challenge in the prevailing harsh times. We are committed to supporting our Armed Forces in this hour of crisis, and no stone is being left unturned for this cause.'
