30 inch waves hit Easter Island after Russia quake

:: Waves of up to 30 inches are seen after a tsunami alert was triggered by a strong quake off Russia's coast

The National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response (Senapred) told media that the waves on Easter Island reached a maximum height of 30 inches, while waves ranging between 12 and 24 inches were recorded in the rest of Chile.
It also said that after evaluating the coasts of Rapa Nui, the state of alert had been lowered to a state of precaution, advising people to stay away from the coast.
Senapred cancelled the tsunami alert for Antarctica, while in San Felix Island the alert status was also lowered to precautionary status. Meanwhile, the state of alert was maintained in the Arica and Parinacota and Los Lagos regions.
