An 80-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped and robbed while on her routine evening walk near Panrutti in Cuddalore district, Tamil woman, who lives with her son, is known to go for walks in the morning and evening. On Monday evening, while she was out walking, a group of men reportedly intercepted and abducted her. According to police sources, the men took her to a secluded location, gagged her, allegedly raped her and robbed her of gold jewellery weighing approximately 8 residents found the woman unconscious and rushed her to the District Government Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. A 15-year-old girl was stabbed to death and her cousin critically injured inside a house in Tamil Nadu's Ranipet district, on victim, Janani, was at her home in Pulivalam village with her cousin Lakshya and grandmother while her father, Jegathkumar, a weaver, had gone to work. Lakshya was visiting them for the summer to the police, when the grandmother went upstairs to check the water tank, an unknown man entered the house and locked the door from inside. Janani began screaming for help, but the intruder allegedly stabbed her multiple times, killing her on the spot. More than 30 fishermen from Tamil Nadu's Nagapattinam district were allegedly attacked by a group of Sri Lankan pirates on Friday while fishing off the Coromandel coast. Out of them, 17 sustained injuries in the attack. The fishermen, who had ventured out to sea in a fibre boat, said they were southeast of Kodiyakkarai when six men in a speedboat approached them and began assaulting them with sharp attackers allegedly looted GPS equipment and fishing nets before targeting several other boats in the vicinity. The stolen items are estimated to be worth around Rs 10 lakh. Seventeen injured fishermen were admitted to the District Government Hospital after returning to shock, the fishermen claimed the attack occurred well within Indian territorial waters.'Sri Lankan pirates attacked us, and several fishermen are now hospitalised. We urge both the state and central governments to intervene.
