UP to select farmers for agri equipment on subsidy through e-lottery system

1 2 Lucknow: The state govt will initiate the process of giving agricultural equipment to farmers on subsidy through e-lottery system on Thursday and Friday. Agriculture department will select the farmers through committees formed under the chairmanship of the district magistrate in all 75 districts. A state govt spokesperson said that the booking of agricultural equipment under the Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization for In-Situ Management of Crop Residue and Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization Scheme and booking of Mini Oil Mill Extraction Unit and Tarpaulin under National Mission on Edible (Oilseed) Scheme has been done by the farmers on the departmental portal. The details of the members of the DLSC (District Level Coordination Committee), a committee constituted under the chairmanship of the district magistrate for e-lottery, will initiate the process. The PDF file of the office memorandum of the committee will also be uploaded on the departmental portal. The agriculture department has issued instructions that such a place should be selected for the process of e-lottery, where the maximum number of farmers can participate. "This process will be done with transparency. For this, arrangements will be made by installing big screens," the spokesperson said. Farmers who are not selected will get their security amount returned within six months. The spokesperson said that SMS should be sent on mobile to the farmers selected in the e-lottery. Along with the information of the last date of uploading information and bills, the farmers selected in the waiting list will also be informed.

NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha has instructed officials to take steps to create awareness among people about how malaria and dengue diseases are spread and how they can be prevented. At a meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee here on Tuesday, Mr. Lakshmisha discussed with other committee members the programmes to be taken up on the occasion of World Malaria Day on April 25 as part of the National Insect-Borne Disease Control Programme. A frontline health worker should distribute a pamphlet on dos and don'ts to prevent mosquito-borne diseases in every household, the Collector said, adding that in urban areas dengue was common while in rural, malaria was more common. A special drive should be held to identify places where water was stagnated and measures should be taken to clear these before the onset of monsoon. In rural areas, awareness should be created on the precautions, to be taken to prevent spread of mosquitoes, through announcements on the mike. The Collector instructed the Agriculture department officials to educate the farmers about stagnant water in fields can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Friday Dry Day would be observed on April 25 and officials of all departments should participate in the programme, during which awareness would be created among the public by draining water from unused tanks, plant pots and drums. Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner H. M. Dhyanachandra, District Medical and Health Officer M. Suhasini, Additional DMHO Usharani, District Malaria Officer Mothibabu and others were present.
