AI wall for Pauni proposed to handle man-animal conflict
Nagpur: On the lines of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), an Artificial Intelligence (AI) wall is being proposed for Bhandara to mitigate man-animal conflict. Forest officials are looking at Pauni taluka as the site for the pilot project, because of the increasing incursions of tigers into human AI wall is basically a system of cameras set up along a predefined periphery, and when it captures a tiger on screen an alert message is sent to nearby Gavai, deputy conservator of forest (Bhandara) said, "We are going to propose the AI wall concept to the District Planning and Development Committee (DPDC), as the funding for the same will be required."Gavai's plan has the potential to save human lives as the AI wall gives a 'heads up' to villagers, who can then avoid venturing in that particular area. Traditional wrestling arenas to get infra boost with Rs4.5cr fund
Kolhapur: A fund of Rs 4.5 crore has been approved under the District Planning and Development Committee (DPDC) for the renovation of traditional and old-age Talims (wrestling arenas) in Kolhapur city. The renovation project will boost infrastructures of Motibaug Talim, Shahu Vijayi Gangavesh Talim and other talims. These places will also receive exercise equipment. Accordingly, under the project, Rs 29.56 lakh was approved for the renovation of Shahu Chhatrapati New Motibaug Talim Mandal. A fund of Rs 2.68 crore was granted for the construction of a hostel, gym, hall and purchasing mats. Shree Shahu Vijayi Gangavesh Talim has got Rs 31.45 lakh for the renovation and Rs 26.86 lakh was granted for Jai Bhawani Talim (Shahupuri Talim). A budget of Rs 76 lakh was decided for the renovation of Jai Bhawani Talim at Banage in Kagal tehsil of Kolhapur district. The efforts of then guardian minister Hasan Mushrif and Deepak Kesarkar, state planning commission chairperson Rajesh Kshirsagar and then district collector Rahul Rekhawar were instrumental in sanctioning these funds for these talims.
