Healing The Soul: How Spiritual Beliefs Influence Mental Health And Emotional Well-Being
What is Spirituality, and how can one heal the Soul? Spirituality is the science of the Spirit, the Soul, or the Atman. It helps us realize the reality of our true self and the reality of God. According to Spirituality, all of us and everything in this universe—living or non-living—are energy. We all emerge from the Supreme Energy, the Divine, and eventually merge back into the Divine. Thus, everything and everyone are a part of the Divine, a manifestation of God. The Soul or the Atman is also an energy form. It is a Spark of Unique Life, a spark of energy that gives life, originating from the Supreme Immortal Power (SIP) that we all call God. The Soul is immortal—it doesn't have a birth or a death. It is a pure spark of energy, an energy that cannot be affected by anything. Therefore, the Soul doesn't need healing because it cannot be damaged. However, the path of Spirituality leads one to experience SatChitAnanda—eternal bliss in truth consciousness, the highest form of joy that feels like the healing of the Soul. Thus, spiritual practices deeply influence mental health and emotional well-being, helping individuals remain strong and experience the highest peaks of bliss, which heals them of pain and suffering. How do spiritual beliefs influence the mental health and emotional well-being of an individual? Spiritual beliefs often have a profoundly positive effect. They encourage self-awareness, gratitude, a sense of interconnectedness, the realization of life's truths, self-realization, and ultimately, God-realization. Spiritual beliefs significantly aid in coping with grief and stress. They build resilience and emotional strength. Belief in a higher power or a greater purpose helps people make sense of difficult experiences. Spiritual practices like prayer, meditation, and service to others provide structure and support during times of crisis and suffering. Spirituality offers individuals a sense of direction, fostering psychological resilience. People who view their lives as part of a Divine universal plan or believe in the concept of karma and karmic debts are less affected by pain and suffering. Instead, they tend to feel more motivated, satisfied, content, and emotionally strong. The spiritual belief in a deep connection with the Divine initiates a sense of belonging and protects one's mental health. Practices such as mindfulness, forgiveness, total acceptance, surrender, and an attitude of gratitude—rooted in spiritual traditions—are linked to improved emotional well-being and reduced anxiety or depression. Other practices like healthy living, avoiding substances, maintaining meaningful relationships, and engaging in acts of charity contribute to better mental and emotional health. In conclusion, spiritual beliefs can have a profoundly positive impact on an individual's mental health and emotional well-being. They offer a deep sense of purpose, inner peace, and hope, especially during life's most challenging moments. Practices such as prayer, meditation, and mindfulness help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Spirituality fosters forgiveness, gratitude, and compassion—qualities linked to emotional resilience and happiness. Belonging to a spiritual or faith-based community also provides valuable social support, reducing feelings of isolation. By guiding individuals toward healthier lifestyles and a more hopeful perspective, spiritual beliefs serve as a powerful foundation for emotional and psychological healing. Ultimately, Spirituality helps one realize the Truth and attain Enlightenment, leading to a state of SatChitAnanda—the highest form of joy and bliss, experienced as the healing of the Soul. Therefore, Spirituality and its practices contribute significantly to positive mental and emotional growth. (Writer is a Happiness Ambassador and Spiritual Leader)

Marcos urges Filipinos to reflect on nation-building this Eid'l Adha
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. urged Friday Filipinos to reflect on what kind of offering truly strengthens a nation as he joined the Muslim communities observe Eid'l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice. In a message, Marcos said it is not in how much is given but in what is restored "the dignity where there was dismissal, fairness where there was neglect, and compassion where there was indifference." He said Eid'l Adha calls on Filipinos to remember that devotion reveals itself when they are asked to release what they once believe they could not give just like what Prophet Ibrahim did. "The story of Prophet Ibrahim endures because it leads us to the edge, to that thin border between obedience and resistance, where the soul must decide what truly matters. What stays in us is not the moment of sacrifice, but the silence that came before it. In that hush, we recognize something achingly familiar: the private reckonings, the sleepless discernments, and the places where we are caught in between," he said. Marcos said that what people brings closest to the Almighty is the giving up of certainty and letting go of pride. "Eid'l Adha invites us to embark on a more difficult journey—not towards a place, but towards a state of heart," he added. He further said when the people fully lay down their temporal concerns, they leave a special place for the Divine to take root "in our hearts and in our nation, where truth becomes a force that can shape the public good." "May the spirit of this sacred remembrance inspire Filipinos of all faiths to respond to what our times ask of us, and to leave behind not only victory but renewal. In doing so, we affirm that sacrifice, at its best, does not vanish but uplifts, and leaves something stronger," said Marcos.—AOL, GMA Integrated News

‘A Freeky Introduction' Review: Pleasure Principles
In 'A Freeky Introduction,' the writer-creator, NSangou Njikam plays a quasi-deity, M.C., holy hedonist named Freeky Dee. He is a poet delivering sybaritic couplets above the thrum of R&B tunes. He is a missionary preaching the gospel of freakdom: 'All of us are aftershocks of the Divine orgasm.' (The Big Bang, Freeky argues, was an explosive one.) The result is a sort of hip-hop hallelujah — a work of interactive theater that's funny and familiar in its embrace of Black culture, yet flattened at times by a lack of specificity. Freeky Dee is also a storyteller. He opens the show, now at Atlantic Stage 2 in Manhattan, with the tale of an eagle destined to fly, but born into a nest of bullying buzzards — a not-so-subtle allegory about one species that must resist the self-appointed superiority of another. Accompanied by DJ Monday Blue onstage, Freeky Dee is the sole performer who acts out these scenes, including his pursuit of a fine lady named Liberty ('French, with a splash of Africa' and wearing 'a crown that looked like sun rays coming out her forehead' — you get it). Njikam, who wrote and starred in the lively and semi-autobiographical 'Syncing Ink,' is a fan of salacious reinterpretations. Under Dennis A. Allen II's well-paced direction for this Atlantic Theater Company production, he delivers them with the charisma of a folkloric trickster. DJ Monday Blue's sounds and samples lend a rock-steady groove — a feast of R&B and hip-hop staples. Whenever Freeky Dee sets up for a spoken-word set, the standing bass and sax lines of 'Brother to the Night,' from the movie 'Love Jones,' ring out. It's a knowing wink — sonic choices that affirm Black cultural memory as its own special canon. Audience participation also becomes a form of communion for Njikam and Blue. At times, we're ordered to recite an affirmation-laden 'Mirror Song' or do kegel exercises in our seats. The show is always edging the sacred up against the sexual, which set designer Jason Ardizzone-West reinforces, adorning square columns with divine contradiction: half evoke West and North African etchings of figures kneeling in spiritual offering; while the other lean into smut — peach and eggplant emojis, thirst drops, figures on their knees for a different purpose.
