Ravens ready to dump Mark Andrews? Jets target Ravens star as playoff drop and contract concerns fuel trade rumors
Mark Andrews trade rumors (Image credit: Imagn Images) The New York Jets have emerged as potential suitors for Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, as trade speculation gains momentum following a crucial playoff mistake and looming salary cap decisions in Baltimore. Cap crunch forces Ravens to rethink veteran core Mark Andrews, a three-time Pro Bowler and one of the NFL's top tight ends, is under contract through 2025. But with the Ravens needing to manage their cap space, they could save $11 million by trading him — especially after his late-game drop in the Divisional Round loss to the Buffalo Bills. As NFL analyst Brooke Cersosimo explained, "He's been a very reliable player (minus that drop in the Divisional Round loss), but this is a business after all. Andrews is a free agent in 2026, and with Baltimore needing to allocate money elsewhere... the team could save $11 million against the cap and gain future draft capital by trading him. The Jets, meanwhile, are actively rebuilding around quarterback Justin Fields. They've already added drafted rookie tight end Mason Taylor in the second round, but a proven veteran like Andrews could give the offense a boost and mentor the rookie. Jets target Mark Andrews as key to fast-tracking offense "In come the Jets, who are in the middle of a rebuild and need more pieces to help Justin Fields jump-start the offense. New York did draft Mason Taylor in the second round, but bringing in Andrews for a year to aid this unit and mentor the rookie makes sense," Cersosimo added. No deal is confirmed yet, but with training camps approaching, talks could escalate. The Ravens may lean on emerging talent Isaiah Likely while cashing in on Andrews' trade value. Ravens give Rashod Bateman $37 million extension after explosive wideout's career-best season
The Ravens' top deep threat is not leaving the nest anytime soon. Star wideout Rashod Bateman agreed to a three-year, $36.75 million contract extension Thursday worth $20 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, putting him under contract through the 2029 season. 'Rashod made a big jump last year and we are excited to watch him this season,' Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta told the Ravens' website following the news of Bateman's extension. A new-look Odafe Oweh steals the spotlight at Ravens OTAs
A new-look Odafe Oweh steals the spotlight at Ravens OTAs A bulked-up Odafe Oweh is one of the more talked about storylines of Ravens OTAs. The last time we saw Odafe Oweh on the football field, he was closing the book on a phenomenal 2024 season. He had tallied 39 tackles, ten sacks, and a forced fumble for the Baltimore Ravens during the 17 games of an AFC North-winning campaign. He was impressive during the Wild Card Round, notching two tackles, a sack, and three additional QB hits vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers on 26 snaps. Unfortunately, he didn't play as well one week later. He notched one tackle on 21 snaps vs. the Buffalo Bills during the Divisional Round, but most of Baltimore's roster didn't play up to their standards on that evening. Last January's loss to the Bills was deflating, but it was clear Oweh had taken another step. Four months later, he's back and seemingly looking to prove a point. A bulked-up Odafe Oweh has shown up to Ravens OTAs. OTAs aren't mandatory, but many of Baltimore's stars were in attendance for the second day of work. It's great to see everyone, as this feels like a team that has already bought into the goals of the coming season. Odafe Oweh was hard to miss. He has added some mass. He's gone from the 245-pound frame we saw last January to 265 pounds, but he still feels just as explosive. "(It will help in stopping) the run, and then, obviously, the top of my rush, not being able to be pushed off the point, digging out the rip. And then obviously [with] power as well." Thank the official team site for the quote. Those were the words of a reinvigorated Oweh, who still hasn't forgotten to use last year's disappointing loss as fuel. "I didn't have the outing I wanted, so I thought a lot of that had to do with my weight and being able to be stout in certain positions. So, as soon as the season was done, I went to Miami, started eating, lifting, and then gaining weight, basically." Opposing offensive lines, beware. Oweh is on a mission, and he's bringing a ticked-off Ravens team with him.

Matthew Stafford reveals the truth about his Giants flirtation during offseason trade saga
It was Los Angeles all along for Matthew Stafford. Speaking to reporters Monday following an eventful offseason — in which the Giants and Raiders heavily pursued him before he re-upped with the Rams — the 37-year-old quarterback revealed he 'never really' wanted to leave the team he's called home since 2021. 'There are so many positive things about our organization and about our team. I never really wanted to leave. I'm just happy to be back and happy that the Rams want me back. We can move forward and hopefully have a great season,' Stafford said on the first day of the team's offseason program, according to ProFootballTalk. 6 Matthew Stafford and the Rams decided to run it back together following pursuits from other teams interested in the star QB. AP 6 Giants GM Joe Schoen had his eye on Matthew Stafford this offseason. Bill Kostroun/New York Post Coming off a 10-7 regular season and a Divisional Round playoff appearance — Los Angeles fell to the eventual Super Bowl-champion Eagles in a snowy 28-22 thriller — Stafford entered an offseason with plenty of questions about the future and whether it would include another run with the Rams. The Rams granted their Super Bowl-winning quarterback permission to speak with other clubs about his value in February. That same month, it was reported Stafford was seeking a new deal in the $50 million-per-season ballpark. Although conversations were had with the Raiders and Giants, a resolution came in late February with the Rams and Stafford agreeing to continue their union on a revised contract. The Giants had discussed a deal between $90 million and $100 million, The Post's Paul Schwartz confirmed at the time. 6 Coach Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford won a Super Bowl together with the Rams. AP Stafford, who has made L.A. his home base with wife Kelly and their four daughters, said Monday, 'Wanting to be back with the Rams was my number one priority.' 'I think the longer that I'm in the game and the longer that I'm playing football, there's an understanding between myself and the organization on what we want that to look like and what we want that to be. That has been great, communication-wise, with those guys,' he said. This isn't the first time Stafford lauded Rams brass over how the situation played out. 6 Matthew Stafford and wife Kelly have also made Los Angeles their home base. 6 They have lived in Southern California with their four daughters since the QB was traded to the Rams in 2021. Head coach Sean McVay, an integral part of bringing Stafford to the Rams in 2021 following a blockbuster trade with the Lions, had 'great communication' with the team's QB1 throughout the process. 'We had grownup conversations because he and I have known each other and gone through a lot together, so, all of that was positive and good, in the end, especially, getting to the point where I know that I'm extremely excited to be back, I know (Kelly is) extremely excited to be back, we're just in a really good place and happy to be playing for the Rams for another season,' Stafford said in March on Kelly's 'The Morning After' podcast. 6 Matthew Stafford and the Rams reached the playoffs in 2024. Getty Images '… We're just in a really good place and happy to be playing for the Rams for another season.' The Rams are looking to defend their NFC West title and will do so with a shiny new toy on offense. Not long after the Rams firmed things up with Stafford, they signed six-time Pro Bowl receiver Davante Adams to a two-year deal. Meanwhile, the Giants and Raiders pivoted elsewhere after being spurned by Stafford. Las Vegas traded for Seattle quarterback Geno Smith in March, reuniting the former second-round pick with Pete Carroll, who coached him on the Seahawks. The Giants added former Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson on a one-year deal in free agency. The team also agreed to a two-year pact with former first-overall pick Jameis Winston. It's been widely speculated the Giants will take a rookie quarterback when the 2025 NFL Draft begins later this week.
