Army jawan's wife injured in firing, 4-yr-old daughter escapes unhurt

Patna: An Army jawan 's wife was injured in a firing at their residence in Jehanabad's Sadar police station area when the couple and their four-year-old daughter were asleep in the early hours of Wednesday. Pushpa Devi (30) is undergoing treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). Police said they recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from the crime scene, even as unidentified criminals fired through a window of their rented house around 4am. The bullet hit Pushpa's neck, following which the Army jawan, Shiv Shankar Kumar, along with his landlady, took her to sadar hospital, from where she was referred to the PMCH. Sadar subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Sanjeev Kumar and Town SHO Diwakar Kumar, along with an FSL team, arrived at the scene, and started an investigation. Sanjeev said the reason behind the incident would become clear only after full investigation, even as initial findings revealed that there was a marital discord. "Shiv Shankar had recently come home on leave. Whenever the husband came home, there would be arguments with his wife, however, this time there was no problem. "During the preliminary investigations, the matter seems suspicious. We have not yet taken the formal statements of the Army man as he is busy with his wife's treatment," the SHO said.
