Iconic local theater officially unveils new sign

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Dixie Twin Drive-In officially unveiled their new sign after it was damaged in severe weather last year. On Friday morning, the iconic local movie theater held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate their new sign. This is a replacement after the original one was destroyed due to remnants of Hurricane Helene. Dayton finalizing construction in downtown ahead of NATO Those at the Drive-In say they're happy to have a local staple back up and running. The owner says while this sign might not be as big as the original, it has more lights to invite moviegoers to visit. 'Harrison Township was fantastic and integral in getting this expedited and fast tracked so that we can rebuild this wonderful homage to the original sign,' said Ryan Levin, owner and vice president. DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A historic landmark in Harrison Township will soon have a new sign. After strong winds from Hurricane Helene destroyed the Dixie Twin Drive-In theater's original signage, the township released concept art for a new one. Dixie Twin Drive-In to host soft opening weekend According to the release, the sign will take advantage of digital technology to add a more modern touch. However, the new sign will be noticeably smaller than the original, as the picture below suggests. The township says that this is the result of insurance limitations. The hope is that the digital features will enhance the new sign's visibility. 'We are excited that the Dixie Twin is committed to keeping moviegoers coming to Harrison Township,' said Township Administrator Shannon Meadows in the release. 'While the old sign will be missed, the new modern design is an ode to the past while paving the way for the future.' Construction on the sign is expected to begin in April.
