CB to probe fraud at Diya Krishna's store
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The case involving a financial fraud of Rs 69 lakh from a store run by BJP leader Krishnakumar's daughter Diya Krishna has been handed over to the Crime Branch. Three former women employees -- Vinitha, Divya and Radhakumari -- have been accused of siphoning off the money. The Crime Branch will also investigate a counter complaint by the employees who alleged that Krishnakumar and his team abducted them. The case, first investigated by the Museum Police, was transferred based on a report by the Thiruvananthapuram city police commissioner. The report said the Museum station faces practical difficulties in handling the case due to other law and order duties. It also noted that the case is sensational and has gained public attention.

What began as an internal investigation into financial irregularities has now spiraled into a legal battle involving serious allegations of fraud, extortion , and breach of trust — all while Diya is eight months pregnant. Betrayal during pregnancy Speaking to Manorama News, a Diya revealed that three trusted employees orchestrated a major financial scam while she was away from her boutique due to pregnancy-related health issues. Diya, who managed all store operations herself until her condition worsened, had entrusted the store to staff members she treated like younger sisters. 'I had complete faith in them,' she said tearfully. The employees allegedly began diverting payments by telling customers that the store's QR code and card machine were not working. They encouraged cash-only payments or redirected UPI transactions to their personal accounts. One even renamed her UPI profile as the store's brand name to mislead customers. Emotional confrontation turns legal On May 29, the situation escalated when the staff and their spouses arrived at Diya's flat with partial repayments. Diya broke down and asked, 'What did I do to deserve this?' The family gathered for answers, but one employee coldly responded, 'We don't like you,' citing personal dislike as a motive for the betrayal. Realizing the magnitude of the scam — reportedly amounting to Rs 69 lakh — Diya and her father decided to pursue legal action. Diya stated, 'This wasn't just about money. It was about trust. That trust is broken forever.' Police investigation underway According to the reports, based on Krishnakumar's complaint, the Museum Police registered a case against the three employees for siphoning funds. The FIR also includes an extortion charge, as the complainants alleged they were forcibly taken to another location and pressured to return money.
