CB to probe fraud at Diya Krishna's store
Three former women employees -- Vinitha, Divya and Radhakumari -- have been accused of siphoning off the money. The Crime Branch will also investigate a counter complaint by the employees who alleged that Krishnakumar and his team abducted them.
The case, first investigated by the Museum Police, was transferred based on a report by the Thiruvananthapuram city police commissioner.
The report said the Museum station faces practical difficulties in handling the case due to other law and order duties. It also noted that the case is sensational and has gained public attention.

Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) leader Surya Hansda was shot dead by police in what they said was an encounter that broke out when he tried to escape while being taken from Deoghar to Godda following his arrest in connection with a firing incident. Hansda's wife and mother have accused the police of carrying out a 'planned encounter' and have refused to accept his body. The Godda police said Hansda was wanted in connection with a case filed last month under Lalmatia police station limits regarding a firing incident at the Paharpur area of ECL's Rajmahal Project. Police also alleged that he was involved in cases of setting trucks on fire at a crusher mill in Sahibganj. Godda SP Mukesh Kumar said that after Hansda's arrest from Nawadih in Deoghar, he allegedly disclosed during interrogation that weapons had been hidden in the Jirli–Dhamni hills of Godda. 'While being taken there, his associates, who were lying in ambush, opened fire on the police. In the chaos, Hansda allegedly snatched a weapon from the police and tried to escape. Crossfire between the two sides lasted for around half an hour. In response, we shot him dead while he was attempting to flee. His body was taken into custody and sent to Godda Sadar Hospital for post-mortem,' Kumar said. The SP said that Hansda had been involved in several other crimes, including an incident in which he allegedly broke the hand of a DSP who had gone to arrest him. 'We have followed the procedure mentioned in the NHRC guidelines. Only the report is awaited,' he said. Hansda's mother, however, said he had been unwell and had undergone treatment in Vellore, after which he returned and was staying at a relative's house at Nawaadih in Mohanpur. 'From there, policemen in plain clothes came on a motorcycle and took him away. After that, he went missing, and we suspected something was wrong,' she said. His wife, Sushila Murmu, said he had been bedridden. 'Earlier, during his arrest in a false case, we told the media that the police had already planned to kill him, but no one took it seriously. Police did not inform us about anything that was happening and did not allow us to see the body,' she said. A resident of Dakaitha village in Godda, Hansda belonged to the Santhal Adivasi community and was earlier associated with the BJP. In the last Assembly elections, when the BJP fielded Lobin Hembrom from Borio, Hansda contested on a JLKM ticket but suffered a heavy defeat. 2 tankers of chemical waste seized in Thane; 6 booked for polluting water and air
Police have seized two chemical-laden tankers and registered a case against the director of a company and five others for allegedly disposing of hazardous chemical waste into a drain in Maharashtra's Thane district, officials said on Tuesday. During patrolling on Sunday morning, a police team spotted two tankers parked near a drain close to another chemical company at Narpoli in Bhiwandi area of Thane, anti-extortion cell's senior police inspector Sailesh Salvi said. The police seized the two tankers filled with calcium hypochlorite solution (used as a bleach), weighing 17,720 kg, belonging to a chemical company located at Wada in neighbouring Palghar district, along with equipment used for releasing the waste into the water, he said. 'The total value of the seized property is Rs 10,72,600,' Salvi stated. The probe indicated the tanker drivers and a worker had already released around 2,000 kg of the chemical waste into the drain, causing water pollution and posing health hazards to the local population, he said. 'Such illegal disposal of industrial waste not only violates environmental laws but also endangers public health,' he said. A case has been registered against the Palghar-based chemical company's director, two drivers, a worker and another person under sections 279 (fouling water of public spring or reservoir), 280 (making atmosphere noxious to health) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, he added.

A chargesheet filed by the Andhra Pradesh police in connection with the alleged Rs 3,500-crore liquor scam in a local court alleges that the kickbacks were systematically laundered through low-profile individuals, such as office boys or employees. The SIT probing the alleged liquor scam arrested several people, including YSRCP Lok Sabha member PV Midhun Reddy , in the case. In May, the Enforcement Directorate also filed a money laundering case to investigate the alleged liquor scam. The federal probe agency has filed an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to probe alleged irregularities in the sales of liquor in the state. The previous chargesheet filed last month mentioned former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as the recipient of kickbacks averaging Rs 50-Rs 60 crore per month. The 305-page chargesheet, however, stopped short of naming Jagan accused. When contacted, former minister and senior YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu told PTI that all the allegations made in the chargesheet are baseless and "created" ones.
