Casey Phair signs 3-year extension with Angel City, will spend rest of season in Sweden with Djurgårdens IF
On the heels of signing a three-year extension with Angel City FC, 18-year-old Casey Phair will spend the remainder of the NWSL season with Djurgårdens IF in Sweden. Angel City announced Phair's extension and subsequent loan on Monday, describing the deal as part of the young forward's development pathway. Since making her regular-season debut in mid-April, Phair has played in five matches for the club. Advertisement 'Casey has grown a lot this season and we now feel it is the perfect time to go and get important game minutes on loan to further develop as a professional,' the club's Sporting Director Mark Parsons said in a team statement. Phair will be on loan to the Swedish club until December. Parson said the club expects her to return to Los Angeles for the start of next season. Phair first joined Angel City in January 2024 through the league's U18 Entry Mechanism, on the heels of becoming the youngest player to debut in a World Cup, after featuring in the competition for the South Korean women's national team. League rules require clubs to sign underage players through the season in which they turn 18 years old. Phair, who turned 18 on June 29, has seen limited playing time with Angel City. The team's roster includes young stars like rookie Riley Tiernan and USWNT standout Alyssa Thompson, as well as veteran talent in players like Christen Press and Japanese international Jun Endo. The club also recently signed Iceland Women's National Team forward Sveindís Jónsdóttir through 2027. Phair's regular-season debut with Angel City came in mid-April. At 17 years and 10 months old, she became the second-youngest player in club history to debut with the team. She has enjoyed 85 minutes of playing time in the regular season since. In 2024, Phair also featured in Angel City's 7-0 friendly win against FC Juárez Femenil. While she has yet to score in the NWSL, Phair is known for her strength up top and prolific goal-scoring ability. On the international stage, Phair has scored four goals in 14 caps for the senior South Korean women's national team. With their U-17 team, she netted five goals in two games, including a hat trick against Hong Kong in the Women's Asian Cup Qualifier, which ultimately caught the interest of the senior team. Advertisement Born in South Korea, Phair was raised in the United States. Her family moved from New Hampshire to Warren Township, N.J., so she could train with the Players Development Academy. She enjoyed a dominant freshman year at the Pingry School, scoring 25 goals in 15 matches before committing to playing professionally.

Panthers Top Prospect Looking For A Bounce Back Offensive Season In 2025-26
Linus Eriksson. Photo credit: The 2024-25 season wasn't anything to write about for Florida Panthers' top prospect Linus Eriksson, but a bounce-back season could be in order. Eriksson, 19, is a 6-foot, 190-pound left-handed center with strong playmaking instincts and a responsible two-way game. He split his season with Djurgårdens IF in HockeyAllsvenskan, Sweden's second division and Timrå IK in the SHL, Sweden's top division. Advertisement With each team, Eriksson played 18 games, recording one goal and four points with Djurgårdens IF and one goal and two points with Timrå IK. Although his offensive numbers weren't eye-catching, many scouts who watched Eriksson consistently raved about his defensive game. When playing with Sweden at the 2025 World Juniors, Eriksson recorded two goals in seven games, serving in a bottom-six role. He's eligible once again for this year's tournament and is expected to play a more impactful role. Age, experience and another offseason to train will bode well for the Stockholm, SWE native, but a year of consistency should contribute to an improved season. After his loan spell with Timrå IK, Eriksson is expected to play the 2025-26 season with the club, moving away from Djurgårdens IF, with whom he has played at every level. He'll have better knowledge of what the coaching staff expects of him and improved chemistry with his teammates, which could increase offensive production. Eriksson has many of the traits the Panthers organization loves from their centers. He is eager to win the puck back, strong in his battles around the boards and possesses excellent leadership qualities. His best season offensively came this year, where he really showed his skills with the puck on his stick. As Bjorck comes over to North America for the very first time, his skills should allow him to be an immediate difference maker for the Tigers. Likely to hear his name called at the draft this week, Bjorck will be one to watch as he heads into his freshman season.

Stay at home! Picturesque Polish city's authorities tell residents to avoid leaving the house before thousands of Chelsea fans flood in for their European final next week
Authorities from the Polish city of Wroclaw have advised residents to limit travel as they prepare for an influx of football fans ahead of the UEFA Conference League final. More than 70,000 supporters are expected to descend on the city in the coming days, as Chelsea take on Real Betis on Wednesday at the 42,000 capacity Wroclaw Stadium. The Blues booked their place in the final by defeating Swedish side Djurgardens IF 5-1 on aggregate earlier this month. The clash could also see Enzo Maresca claim silverware in his first season since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Leicester in the summer. However, while fans are making travel arrangements ahead of the big game, Wroclaw locals are preparing for significant disruption in their city. According to Polish outlet Gazeta Wroclawska, the authority of Lower Silesia's capital have released a press release to notify residents of three days of disruption ahead of the game. Residents of the Polish city of Wroclaw have been warned to stay at home where possible ahead of the UEFA Conference League final The report suggests that western parts of the city will be most affected, with multiple road closures throughout the area and with police deployed to direct the influx of traffic. Special bus and tram services will also be in operation, with local officials said to be expecting that the event will be bigger than the games staged during Euro 2012 in the city. Meanwhile, locals have also been warned to use public transport and to stay at home wherever possible to avoid significant delays. Crowds of supporters are expected to gather at a free fan festival at the market square situated in Wroclaw's historic old town leading up to the game, with the Conference League trophy set to be on display. The report comes just days after videos circulated widely on social media showed Manchester United supporters stranded at Bilbao bus station following their side's defeat to Spurs in the Europa League final. Fans attempting to reach Bilbao airport found there was no service on the city's metro, with some reportedly forced to trek across the Basque capital on foot in the early hours in order to make their departing flight.
