Sawadika Koh Samui: This island in Thailand is emerging as a favourite with filmmakers in Bollywood and the West

Imagine this: walking barefoot on white sand beaches in the warm glow of the rising sun. The pristine waters make you forget all about your phone and 'urgent Zoom meetings'. Did this image take you to Thailand? This Southeast Asian country's stunning locales have been a favourite backdrop for Bollywood shoots — from the title track of Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000) at Phra Nang Beach in Krabi to Housefull 2's (2012) song Do You Know and the destination wedding scenes from Student of the Year (2012). In 2024, over 2.1 million Indian tourists visited Thailand, making India the country's third-largest tourist market. And 2025 is already seeing strong momentum. With more direct flights, and a collective craving for sun and sand, Indians are heading to Thailand in droves — and discovering gems like Koh Samui along the way. The island of Koh Samui, right off the east coast of Thailand, is known for its beaches, nightlife, and warm hospitality. It's growing popularity was evident to the author as throngs of international travellers waited for their connecting flight from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport. The more than hour-long flight touched down on Koh Samui International airport's runway — bordered with breath taking greenery that set the tone for what's to come. Like the food. When in Thailand, especially Koh Samui, start with a sip of the freshest coconut water you'll ever taste. Trust us, you're not ready for it. From street-side mango sticky rice and local specialties like salapao (Thai-style steamed buns) to the seven-course meal at Tree Tops Signature Dining at Anantara Lawana — every dish is out of this world. Besides what Koh Samui already offers, another reason why it's become a trendy travel destination is thanks to the new season of The White Lotus. Yours truly got to experience some of the spots that featured on the show, including Anantara Bophut and Anantara Lawana resorts. The White Lotus effect basically attributes the show's appeal for boosting travel at whichever location it's set in. Hotels have reported as much as a whopping 104% year-over-year increase in web-traffic from users after the show's third season released earlier this year. The library of Anantara Bophut became a jewellery store that gets robbed, while the stunning entrance was retained as is for the fictional White Lotus resort. It's surreal to see the lamps bringing the night to life, just like they did on the show. The Singing Bird lounge, nestled atop a 120-year-old tree at Anantara Lawana, featured as a bar on the show. And you realise why the makers chose it as you experience it yourself. No wonder viewers were curious. After the show's premiere in February, a travel portal reported that search results for Koh Samui increased by 15% compared to the January average and by 50% compared to the same time in 2024. Samui Elephant Sanctuary, Bophut - Set on forested land, it's like a retirement home for rescued elephants Fisherman's Village, Bophut - A historical part of Bophut with preserved traditional buildings Chaweng Beach - The longest and popular beach in Koh Samui Lamai Night Market - A lively walking street for your shopping and street food fix

Jessica Simpson, 44, reveals surprising heartbreak from her twenties

has revealed a heartbreak from her twenties when she was dropped by her record label in 2008. She didn't understand why she was dropped after her hit country album Do You Know came out and it led her to take a break from music, she revealed during an interview with Fancy Hagood for an upcoming episode of Trailblazers Radio. 'I took a long break,' Simpson, 44, told Hargood via People. 'I was mad at music a bit. After being dropped with a number one country album, I was dropped and I just never understood it. 'They just said I would never recoup if I didn't give them part of the brand, but my brand was already successful.' Do You Know debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums and hit No. 4 Total Album Sales, but her record label decided to drop her anyway. Simpson's first album, 1999's Sweet Kisses was the first of seven albums she recorded by 2010 and then she stopped making music for 15 years. Jessica also said that she was warned not to pursue a career in music. 'They told me not to do it. They thought it would ruin my career just like they thought reality TV would ruin my career, and it didn't.' But Simpson just wanted to be relatable to her fans. 'That's so important I believe as a musician, I'm not going to be the one up there that [is] like, "Oh my God, I want to be just like Jessica." 'I want people to say, "Oh my God. I'm just like Jessica." That just works for me. That thought process,' she said. The I Belong To Me singer also told Hagood that she had to get her mindset in the right place to return to the music industry. 'I feel like there's so many façades that we put up, so many different things,' she explained. 'This time, I know I have three kids and I want to be a good role model to them, but they know me just the way this music is, which is so nice. 'Because my kids have thought that I've been putting out music this whole time because I've had writing sessions at my house and I wanted to put music out a long time ago,' Jessica explained. 'I've always wanted to put music out. It just never felt like the right time. And I'm an intuition gut follower.' Jessica made her long awaited return to music in March with her EP Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1. 'This is where I discover myself,' Simpson said about Nashville. 'This is where I'm born free… I did a gospel record at 14 here.' She continued: 'I got to write my first songs here. I wrote my whole country record here, and I was always so safe.' She chose to record in Nashville after her eldest daughter, Maxwell, 13, wanted to celebrate her birthday in the city. 'Instead of singing Happy Birthday, she wanted us to sing I Saw the Light and play Hank Williams that morning we were in Nashville because that's where she wanted to go… And she'd never been. 'And I woke her up with that song and it just hit me. The light. It was like the light's here,' she said. Last month, Simpson reflected on the earlier days of her music career, during which she was pitted against other up-and-coming artists. In her latest interview with Rolling Stone, the Texas native — whose fans think she's plotting a revenge TV show — named the two other blonde music artists she struggled to catch up with. Looking back on her rise to stardom, she told the magazine, 'I was never gonna win because I had someone like Britney [Spears] and Christina [Aguilera] ahead of me, who were selling so many more records.' Describing her relationship with her record label at the time, she noted, 'I didn't want to dance, I didn't want to wear a head mic. 'But I agreed to do it, because I worked for Sony, and I didn't want to let them down, and I felt like I was constantly letting people down. Even myself probably, because I wasn't singing words I wrote.' It wasn't until she began writing her own music that she was finally able to achieve her first chart-topping single.

Jessica Simpson Revealed Where She Stands With Ex Eric Johnson After Their Separation

Jessica Simpson is starting a new chapter. In anticipation of the release of her new single "Use My Heart Against Me" from her EP Nashville Canyon, Jessica opened up about her relationship with Eric Johnson following their separation. After 10 years of marriage, Jessica told People earlier this year that they had been "living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage." The singer and former NFL player began dating in 2010 and were married four years later. They share three children, Maxwell "Maxi" Drew, 12, Ace Knute, 11, and Birdie Mae, 5. "Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family," Jessica told People back in January. On Feb. 19, Jessica shared with People how creating music in Nashville has helped her process the separation and rediscover her voice. "I've grown up so much. I can handle so much," she told the publication. "Maybe I'm just meant to love a lot of people in my life." Regarding her relationship with Eric after their separation, Jessica remains optimistic. "I don't know why my heart gets tossed around but I'm one of the lucky ones," Jessica recollected. "At least I have my children and I still have Eric. He's still very much a part of my life and will always be." According to People, Jessica and Eric continue to co-parent their three kids while she's creating her EP, which is described as "five soul and rockabilly infused songs." "Discovering this music is something I did on my own," she added. "Thank God I had Nashville, it was just a way of me owning myself and declaring it." From her pop music, like her second studio album Irresistible (2001), to the country sound of her sixth Do You Know (2008), Jessica's been in the game for a minute; she's come a very long way. "I am a woman now and I can do what I want and to have freedom in music — I think that's what you're going to feel in Nashville Canyon." Theo Wargo / WireImage, Bruce Gifford / FilmMagic
