Banquet marks royal birthday in Brunei
Their Majesties at the banquet on July 26. - BB/ANN BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha graced a banquet at Istana Nurul Iman on July 26 in conjunction with His Majesty's 79th birthday celebration. The royal banquet was preceded by the singing of the national anthem and recitation of Doa Selamat by State Mufti Pehin Datuk Seri Maharaja Datuk Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Awang Abdul Aziz Juned. Guests in traditional Malay costume and formal attire dined on various dishes while bands from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and Brunei Youth Symphony performed at the venue. Brunei's Kampong Kapok folk show love for their Ruler
The national flag being hoisted. - Photo: Borneo Bulletin/ANN BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Kampong Kapok Village Consultative Council (MPK) organised a flag hoisting ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 79th birthday celebration. The event was held at the open area of the Kampong Kapok's village head's residence. The ceremony aimed to enliven the atmosphere of the Ruler's birthday celebration and demonstrate love for the monarch. This was followed by the flag-hoisting ceremony, accompanied by the singing of the national anthem and further enlivened by the waving of flags by students. Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer Pengiran Muhammad Ameer Mubaarak Pengiran Hashim was the guest of honour. Brunei national flag hoisted marking start of Sultan's birthday celebrations
The flag hoisting ceremony in progress. - Photo: Temburong district office BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Tutong District held a flag hoisting ceremony at the open area of the Tutong District Community Hall on Monday (July 1), in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 79th birthday celebration. Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister's Office Datuk Seri Paduka Mohamad Azmi Mohd Hanifah was the guest of honour. The ceremony saw a delegation of flag bearers led by Special Duties Officer Level II Haizul Rizal Yahya accompanied by the Prisons Department's Brass Band as well as cadets from Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Fire and Rescue Department and members of Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam with Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society. The national flag was handed over to Acting Tutong District Officer Mohammad Sofian Basri who passed the national flag to the guest of honour. The guest of honour presented the national flag to RBPF personnel to be hoisted at the ceremony. A choir from Kumpulan Koir Wira Bangsa and students from Tanjong Maya Secondary School performed patriotic songs. Meanwhile, a flag hoisting ceremony was also held at Mukim Sengkurong Community Hall in celebration of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's 79th birthday. Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Zainol Mohamed was the guest of honour. Penghulu of Mukim Sengkurong Dr Abdullah Hanif Saman, as well as village heads, members of the mukim and village consultative council, and residents were also in attendance. The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by the flag hoisting ceremony led by cadets from the Sayyidina Husain Secondary School in Kampong Sengkurong, accompanied by the singing of the national anthem. Over at Temburong district, a similar flag hoisting ceremony was held at the community hall of Mukim Bangar. Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Datuk Seri Paduka Khairuddin Abdul Hamid was the guest of honour. Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Awang Sulaiman Nasir, Acting Temburong District Officer Hassan Baha Umar, acting penghulu mukim and village heads, acting village heads and officials were also present. The ceremony saw the acting Temburong District officer handing over the national flag to the guest of honour, who presented the national flag to Royal Brunei Police Force personnel. Brunei King, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, arrives in Malaysia for 46th Asean Summit
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei King, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has arrived in Kuala Lumpur to the 46th Asean Summit and related summits which will be held at the KLCC from Monday (May 26). Prior to leaving Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan, the Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz Juned. Present at His Majesty the Sultan's Flight Hangar in Rimba to bid farewell to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam were members of the Royal Family. Also present were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-pengiran Cheteria; the Speaker of the Legislative Council; Cabinet Ministers; Members of the Privy Council; Deputy Ministers; the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; and Acting Commissioner of Police of the Royal Brunei Police Force as well as the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam. Upon arrival at the Subang Air Base, His Majesty was welcomed by Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia Senator Datuk Seri Nasution Ismail and Chief of Ceremony of Malaysia Datuk Rozainor Ramli. Also present were Brunei's Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah; Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Mohd Yusof; and High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Mahmud Saidin, as well as Senior Officers from the Malaysian Royal Air Force. Sultan Hassanal then proceeded to walk past the Static Guard of Honour mounted by 1st Battalion, Royal Rangers Regiment (Ceremonial Infantry). Malaysia, as Chair of Asean this year, is carrying the theme 'Inclusivity and Sustainability', which demonstrates Asean's commitment to ensure regional resilience and prosperity, as well as to strengthen collaboration in the face of emerging global challenges and external pressures. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
