Free dinosaur workshop for children at garden centre

Children can explore the world of prehistoric plants and dinosaurs at a free interactive workshop this summer. The event will take place at Dobbies' Cadnam store on August 3, as part of the garden centre's monthly Little Seedlings Club. Aimed at children aged four to 10, the session will introduce young explorers to dinosaurs, ancient plants, and hands-on activities, including making their own fossil to take home. Spaces can be booked at Ayesha Nickson, events programme manager at Dobbies, said: "Our Prehistoric Plants workshop is a very exciting opportunity for children to show and share their love for dinosaurs while learning more about plants. Part of Dobbies' Grow How series, the event offers a chance to learn from the garden centre's Green Team in an interactive setting. Nigel Lawton, plant buyer at Dobbies, said: "Growing flowers, vegetables, and fruit from scratch is a rewarding process. "Even if you are new to gardening, it can be surprisingly easy to get started, but it's always nice to hear some top tips to broaden your knowledge. "There are so many wonderful plants to grow in your garden and any outdoor space. "Our Grow How workshops are a great way to learn about what grows well at certain times throughout the year. "Now is the perfect time to plant potatoes to have ready to tuck into just in time for Christmas dinner." The Moreton Park workshop will cover topics including starting plants from seed, selecting tasty and attractive fruits, easy-to-grow vegetables, and making high-quality compost. Attendees will also have the chance to take part in a question-and-answer session and receive advice on growing potatoes in time for Christmas. The Grow How workshops are designed for all skill levels, from complete beginners to seasoned gardeners. They aim to help people make the most of their outdoor spaces and enjoy the many benefits of gardening. Spaces for the workshop are limited and must be booked in advance. The monthly free-to-attend Little Seedlings Club is taking place on Sunday, August 3, for children aged 4-10 at stores across the UK, where they can get involved in hands-on activities and come together to learn about a variety of different topics in a friendly group setting. ‌ At the Little Seedlings Club, attendees will start by learning about dinosaurs from different time periods before covering plants that have been around as long as their favourite dinos and can still be found in our gardens today. ‌ Attendees at the Sandyholm store will also take part in games and make their own fossil to take home.
